We had the good fortune of connecting with Julia LeBlanc and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julia, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Being comfortable with silence. I’ve practiced yoga for many years. Initially quiet was uncomfortable. I think because it forces us to spend time with ourselves. Finding comfort in that space and allowing a full acceptance of self, being able to always trust myself- my gut, heart, mind, listening to what I want; it is vital to truly getting to know myself and know my limits- what makes me tick, what are my fears, what makes me uncomfortable. And why do I avoid those things, or choose those things? It opens the ability to make decisions, plans and strategize with my whole essence and being which I feel leads to a greater fulfillment and success.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
After almost 17 years as a Doctor of Physical Therapy, I still love my work. It’s a passion. I was a 14 year old girl when I decided that PT would be my profession. My grandmother will tell you I was 2 when I received that calling…I’d massage her legs with lotion and powder creating a paste! She’d let me work my magic with my little hands.

Throughout my career, I’ve had many opportunities and many setbacks. I’ve had unfortunate experiences that made me question myself. Challenges are part of the growth, and mistakes provide lessons to learn and overcome. I’ve become a better, more understanding and dedicated PT because of them. I have an appreciation for being given the opportunity to do what i do for others. I love helping others heal and teaching people how to heal themselves.

Incorporating my passion as a PT with my love for yoga, and providing a place to share the ability to move the body and regain a connection between the mind and body is an incredible process. I have an ability to connect with people at a higher frequency; I guess you could say in a spiritual or universal way that creates a comfortable and caring environment to guide them to recover and feel better.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A week… A hike up Monadnock, a yoga practice with the amazing Shawn Shaw at Metrowest Yoga, sushi at Yama Zakura, an evening at the speakeasy in Hudson, a day/overnight trip to Long Island for dinner at Jedediah Hawkins Inn and then a couple drinks at Long Island Spirits (our favorite bourbon), then a whole lot of go with the flow! Definitely some time to chat and laugh and ponder by an outdoor fire while watching the night sky.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are quite a few people who have supported me throughout my journey. Of course my parents, my mentors and colleagues all have played a part in my growth and development. I find that surrounding myself with other like-minded, hardworking and driven individuals is what motivates me most… a few to name: Kristen Poe, Shawn Shaw, William Broullon, Kevin Flaherty. My biggest supporter is my husband, William, who believes in me most. He thinks the world of me and is constantly sharing my name with anyone he comes across who might benefit from my skills.
