We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Louis-Pierre and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

I’d like to call myself a natural born Coordinator. If there is anything that needs coordinating, I am the person for the job. The idea came about after planning and coordinating my own wedding from beginning to end. All the while, still coping with the passing of my mother, who succumbed to the effects of cancer in 2015. The thought of my mother missing the opportunity to witness me walk down the aisle or even bear children amongst other things resonated throughout my entire process. Not to mention, the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic in full effect, which brought about multiple losses of beloved relatives and friends, leading up to our wedding day.

By the grace of God, I was still able to find a great deal of peace during it all. Although, I still had this void within and felt like my story was incomplete while coordinating and planning our wedding.  On a lighter note, surprisingly, I experienced minimal stress levels. Often, I would see and hear couples planning their special day, expressing the overwhelming amount of stress they were experiencing. Which most likely is the reason why many do not enjoy the process.

After my wedding, and seeing the successful fruits of my labor, at that point I believed I was a qualified expert since I had experience in planning and coordinating a wedding with a party of 150 guests within 90 days. Long and behold, I started to receive a considerable number of inquiries regarding day- of wedding coordination services. Deep down inside of me I was just filled with joy to make sure another couple was as happy as I was, only because I was able to enjoy my process unlike some people. After helping several couples coordinate their wedding pro bono, I made the decision to take a leap of faith, and make what was like a hobby for me, a lucrative business that has been beneficial for many couples. Bringing forth a positive experience is what I am all about.

My mission has always been to make sure the couple enjoy their wedding and the process leading up to the wedding. Starting the business was not a difficult task, it was more about learning the logistics of sustainability within the business aspect. I have experience as well from my other business venture Placed in Gifted Hands LLC. which has recently undergone rebranding and now provides stationary services for events.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

As early as I can remember, I wanted to be a teacher until I entered the 8th grade. It was then, I had a change of heart and becoming an attorney was the new career of choice. My parents and I did everything to make my desire become reality. I did everything leading to the path of becoming an attorney such as taking the LSAT exam and applying to law schools. But I got to a place where I no longer desired to become an attorney, especially after five years working for the Public Defender’s Office. Shortly, after leaving the Public Defender’s Office I obtained a position in the Mental Health and Behavioral Health, where I presently work as a Mental and Behavioral Health Manager. I am also a postgraduate student currently undertaking further study in Clinical Mental Counseling with focus in Grief, Family, and Mental Health. My life aspirations are to be the voice of the abuse, abandoned, neglected and less fortunate. I am the CEO of Luxurious Planning Consultants LLC and co-owner to one of Broward’s own stationary companies Placed in Gifted Hands LLC. I also sit as a chair-member of AhavahDARE Inc. which is a non-profit organization.

Starting Luxurious Planning Consultant LLC had its ups and down like most, but everything worked together for my good. I had and still have solid support from family and close friends that know and understand the fact that I love to plan. Initially, I obtained most of my clientele through word of mouth. Officially, I registered the business earlier this year. In planning my wedding, I found it to be very therapeutic for me, which aided in my coping process and acceptance of the fact that my mother would not be present. And the fact that although I was planning a wedding at the peak of a world pandemic, I had time to really focus, as a result making the process less stressful.

Starting an event coordinating business was right up my alley to ensure individuals planning events, especially weddings, have low stress levels with the help of myself and my team so that they too can enjoy their special event to the fullest. Throughout my journey, I have learned to not be afraid to step out on faith and that your talent, passion, and gift will make room for you.

In this short period of time, I have been blessed to work with pioneers in the event planning industry that was once a dream for me, but if I did not take that leap of faith and challenged myself who is to say I would have these opportunities today. I am most proud that I did not allow my fears to rob me from starting this business that I am more passionate about, and who many say I do effortlessly. This business has allowed me to be of service to many, while providing an unforgettable wedding experience. I am also proud of all the support from individuals in the industry and from my support system and faithful followers. Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

For breakfast either Cracker Barrel or FK Your Diet for their French Toast breakfast, Contour Day Spa for a 60 minutes Swedish Massage, Haitian Lounge with Haitian Music to dance and eat good food like Pearls of the Island, Kate’s Restaurant, Bistro Creole in Southgate and Creole Garden for some Fried Turkey, Black Rice, Fried Plantains and Pikliz, Conch or Stewed Oxtail, Just Spoons for brunch for just about anything that do not have pork there, Bar One or Victory Lounge for dinner and nightlife. Just so you know, I am a food connoisseur. We would be going out to eat at some of the best cafes and restaurants. To shop we would go to Sawgrass Mall or Dolphins Mall. I love being around and spending time with family, and my family always has some type of activity or gathering, so I would make time for us to stop by family functions if any. And we cannot forget to visit the house of the Lord during that week as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I have more than just one because it for sure takes a village. God, first and foremost because I don’t believe I would be standing today without my faith. My late mother Leana, and father Amoreste. My husband Salem, my siblings Lea and Stanley. Luxurious Planning Consultants Team, my business partners with Placed in Gifted Hands, my mentor Laurane, social media manager Yoledyne, of course my past and future clients, family, and friends near and far.
