We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca Mansueto and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rebecca, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think that risks are an integral and necessary part of life in all areas. Without risks you will never know your limits and what you’re truly capable of. Risks have played a huge role in my life more specifically my career. I took a risk at the age of 23 and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a professional dancer despite not having secure income and stable/consistent work. It was during that time that I broke down barriers and limitations that I once believed I possessed.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe I am most proud of acquiring two working visas as a professional dancer, performer and choreographer for the U.S. It wasn’t an easy feat and I feel my determination and tenacity sets me apart from others. My journey as a working professional within entertainment has been difficult but worth it. Some would say Los Angeles is a superficial city so moving there at the age of 23 to pursue a career in commercial dance was challenging in the way I perceived my aesthetic and appearance. In saying this, it made me learn a lot about how casting works and what Showbiz entails! My brand is myself that is a dancer, actress and vocalist from Sydney Australia. I have recently delved into the realm of theater . My first job in musical theater is the role of Cha Cha and Frenchy onboard the largest class of ship in the world – Oasis class ‘Harmony of the Seas’. I booked the role at an audition in New York that I specifically flew in from via Sydney Australia. My story consistently entails never surrendering to limitations and always aspiring to achieve all that you set out to do!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In Miami I would take them to Ocean Drive of course! First to the beach and then perhaps lunch at the palace for drag brunch. I would on a different day take them to Aventura mall for a shopping spree followed by a dinner at one of the local restaurants. In Sydney, Australia – my home city I would take them to Cronulla Beach by day and then by night my favorite pizza joint ‘Margherita of Savoy’ by the beach.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First of all my parents for working multiple jobs that allowed them to fund my education and performing arts training at the best performing arts school in Australia. A shout out to the agents past and present at McDonald Selznick Associates in Los Angeles whom supported my dream to live and work in The United States. A huge shout out to Brian Friedman and also Michael Rooney whom were pivotal in my career in terms of scouting my talent and also supporting my journey to work as a dancer in the United States. Last but not least Greg Graham lead, talent casting at Royal Caribbean for casting me as ‘Cha Cha’ and ‘Frenchy’ in Grease the musical onboard Royal Caribbean’s Oasis class ship Harmony of the Seas, the largest ships afloat in the world. These lead vocalist and dancer roles have propelled my career in the musical theater industry.
