We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamara Kovalchuk and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tamara, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I think we all know, deeply in our hearts, what our passions are, even when we say we feel lost. As long as that passion is alive, giving up is not even an option. Instead, the thought of giving up should be used as a motivation to keep working, with more dedication and more love. Success is not reached when you reach the goal, success is being brave enough to go through the whole journey that leads you to that goal.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I come from a city in the North of Argentina, called Posadas. I’ve been dancing since I was 7 years old. I started with ballet, jazz, contemporary and a little later hip hop and musical theater. Never in a million years I thought that I would be achieving all these dreams. From performing for my family at every birthday or holiday party, to moving to Buenos Aires, then Mexico, then the United States, to performing at 30 NFL games as a Miami Dolphins Cheerleader, Music Videos, Movies, the Jimmy Fallon Show, the Coachella Music Festival, the Latin Grammy Awards, World Tours that took me to iconic venues such as the Madison Square Garden, working alongside artists like Karol G, Guns N’ Roses, Marc Anthony, J Balvin, Prince Royce, Maluma, Wisin, Marco Antonio Solís and Ozuna, to mention a few. The experiences my career brought to my Life are incredible and I still have to pinch myself everyday to believe how blessed I am. I had to learn new languages, new cultures, new skills, it’s been and it continues to be an amazing and eyeopening journey. I’ve seen a lot of doors close but my perseverance took me to keep knocking and find that there are always doors waiting for us to open them. What characterizes me, as cliché as it might sound, is that I always follow the desires of my heart. Every decision I’ve made in my Life, was always made from love. I was not always sure about the results or how to take action after taking the risk, all I knew is that I couldn’t do anything else at the moment, that that was all and everything I wanted to do. Of course challenges always come with every decision and every risk we take, but I simply can never do something that I don’t feel. This way of living can bring us some obstacles on the road but in the end, the reward is always there and the feeling of satisfaction is indescribable. Because honesty and gratitude really make the difference, so if we start from practicing those qualities with ourselves first, I’m convinced that the outcome will always be not only positive but wonderful.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned in this industry is that not everyone will act the same way that we do and that can be a reason to frustrate us a lot of times. A lot of times. But as long as we keep acting with respect and love, and working hard with discipline, that’s what Life will give back to us. Maybe not in the moment we think but when we are ready to bloom and shine.
I wish that my story can inspire to those that are still fearful to take that jump, that leap of faith.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would start with brunch at “Pura Vida” in South Pointe, followed by one of the delicious cóctels that they have at “Call me Gaby”, just a few steps away. Then spend the afternoon at the beach, of course! One of my favorite spots is around North Miami Beach. And at night, I would take them to have dinner at “Negroni” in Midtwon, and after to dance around Wynwood! My favorite bars are “Dirty Rabbit” and “Pilo’s Tequila Garden”. Other plans I would include for the week: a walk around Lincoln Road Mall, lunch at any restaurant in Calle Ocho (they are all great!), a night out dancing to live salsa music at the iconic “Ball & Chain”, a visit to Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, Cape Florida Light in Key Biscayne, riding bikes around the boardwalk starting from South Pointe to North Beach, a visit to Bayside Marketplace and dinners at “Chica Miami” and “El Tucán”.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I always say that God puts people in our paths at different times of our lives, I call them angels. Some of them just stay close until their mission is fulfilled, and some others stay forever. So today I want to thank to every single one of those angels, I wouldn’t be here without them.
