Meet Carissa Palmer | Cockapoo Breeder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Carissa Palmer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carissa, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Too many people are not educated on where to find a good breeder for their puppy of choice, and many buy blindly from the pet store as many do not know whom raised the puppy, and the negative impact on the puppy’s development by being in a pet store for weeks.

My goal is to offer potential pet parents a way for them to look more closely at the person and environment in which their puppy is being raised, a chance to see the puppy’s parents, a chance to buy from a breeder whom only specializes in one or two breeds, a chance to ask for the puppy that suits the temperament that they want.

All our puppies are raised with mom for the full 9 weeks, and since we only specialize in puppy development and proper socialization, the puppies are given the attention and raised with quality care from the moment they are born until they go to their forever homes!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

I worked in a pet store at a very young age and I saw my passion for puppies and matching them with families. I went on to receive my bachelor’s of Business Management Degree, eventually owning a Pet-Sitting company that offers personal pet sitting to clients, and then to becoming a breeder full-time, where my goal is to raise puppies with the best quality care.

How did you overcome the challenges?

The challenges of raising puppies can be unique, but faith in the process has really helped me along the way. One way I overcome challenges is to have fun along the way, I really go the extra mile to bond with all the puppies and get to know them individually. I take them fun places and take portrait photography pictures. I just absolutely love capturing their beauty on the camera, and I think this is what sets me apart from other breeders, is my willingness to fully engage with every puppy and take amazing pictures.

It can be extremely difficult to find suitable homes for puppies and place them into families whom provide excellent homes, love, attention, and an overall commitment to the care of the puppy. My goal is to carefully screen every potential buyer, and educate them on the proper ways to care for their puppy. I am the type of person whom will always pick up the phone, offer my support in the future for whatever concerns the puppy owner may face down the line. Not many other breeders can say the same thing.

I am most excited about helping future pet parents discover a way to find their ideal breeder of choice, apart from going to a pet store, because I believe in knowing and educating our pet parents and involving them in the critical moments of their puppys’ lives is of high importance. That is why, I will soon be offering educational content on Instagram and You-tube on various ways potential puppy parents can locate and connect with their favorite breeders, ask them the important questions, and give the overall puppy buying experience an upgrade.

I want to dedicate my shoutout to my beloved Maltese named Avelie, (a rescue) whom warmed my heart and made me decide that the proper care of animals from a young age is the best gift and most important decision you can make when getting a puppy. I adopted her and changed her life around, and she gives me inspiration everyday for the care of animals. She makes me want to educate others on the importance of proper development, training, and care of young animals, and why its important to take a closer look at the treatment and well-being of animals.
