We had the good fortune of connecting with stephanie hoyte and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi stephanie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Being a Business Manager at one of the biggest Banks, i learned so much about business and one of my clients who is very successful at what he does, asked me a very interesting question. Why don’t i have my own business ? I always knew i loved fashion and one day wanted to start my business around it, but didn’t know when i would start it, but at that time he asked me that question, it was a really good one, and me knowing so much about business i really thought about it and created some goals and plan around it and turned my passion for fashion into a paycheck and started my business. I started to implement everything I knew about starting a business into myself and got started.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Fashion was always something i loved from the time i was a little girl, I always loved fashion, so I started planning the business back in 2018, a part-time business while working as a business manager at a bank. I used to experience teaching my clients from my job into my business and my brand.
I wanted my pieces to be different to be exclusive and that’s where i started. I started from my home office and quickly moved into my garage because it was growing so quickly.
After learning so much from my career and others, i started to love what i did for myself and quickly spent more time learning and making more moves in my business. i created a product called the Ab board a year later for women who had plastic surgery, i knew i needed to create something different and i created the long and short torso Ab Board, they were on standard size and no long torso ab boards out there and that was something that was needed and that was the beginning of me setting myself apart from everyone else. I later patent the product and it was approved in Black history month and published, that was the most exciting thing that happened to be this year.
After a few years on Dec 1 2020 I was fired from my job after 15 years during the beginning of the pandemic, and I decided at that time that i was not going to work for anyone and I was going to use the experience and information I have and grow my business into a multimillion dollar business. I created a plan and executed it within less than a month of losing my job, Even though people i knew personally told me it wouldn’t be a good idea, I pursued it anyways and on January 15th 2021 i was selling my products in the Orange Park mall in Jacksonville Florida at a kiosk and 2 months later after being at the Kiosk, and receiving kickback of expanding into a storefront, i did it anyways and i opened a store front 13oosqft, it was such a blessing to do it because everything worked out in my favor, (what God has for you no man can take away).
My brand is about helping women look fabulous without breaking the bank and also teaching women, how to take care of their bodies after plastic surgery, plastic surgery is a very unique yet common service being performed for years, but not spoken about publicly and openly. I realized after having plastic surgery myself that lots of women, do not know how to take care of their bodies after they perform plastic surgery, some being someone who went through the process of having plastic surgery, and struggling with maintaining my results, and going through weeks and months of trial and error, I discovered a product that I manufactured myself and patent, that can help women have amazing results. So that is what sets me apart from my competitors
I was able to overcome all my challenges and they weren’t many but the challenges i received were from people not believing in me and talking me out of my destiny. But you have to remember your vision is bigger than the eye can see and it’s only for you to see and believe not others.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Here in Jacksonville there’s a few spots that i love to go and hangout after a long week or day sometimes and one spot is Legacy Lounge they have great food, music and drinks, great spot to go after work or hangout, then there’s Heaven Night club, great spot to celebrate with your friends, great music and the vibe is amazing. Then there’s Medusa Lounge, and Whispers for great Sunday Brunch events, again great music, food and the vibe is great. I’m from the Caribbean so there’s an event called Rum N Jerk, ohhhh it’s a vibe and so much fun.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely having mentors and people to push you to the next level in your life is very important. My mentors that pushed and helped me were MZSkittlez, Neo Davis, MsBling Miami, Annetta Powell, The Inner Circle Group, Listening to Les Brown daily as my morning motivation and My close friend Lisa Okoye, Ebony Butler , Calvin Cannon jr, Kandi Green and a few ladies from the SX community. just to name a few that was there when i needed them in my up and low days. Having a positive circle around you is very important, the people around you and the company you keep really dictates your future.
