We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriela Galeazzi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabriela, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Everything originally started when my daughter got married 5 years ago. For her wedding, we decided to see if we could help her and her fiancé cut costs by finding some second-hand plates and glasses at an affordable price so they wouldn’t have to pay the high cost of renting them. Through this process I realized I had a pretty good skill of finding things in places where most people wouldn’t. After the wedding, we had so many things and decided to start a small business of renting everything ourselves for other people’s weddings. After many attempts and various business models, I decided that the small store I have today was best for me at this point in my life. Today, I have a small shop of vintage home decor that is in the comfort of my own home.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
For most of my life I’ve been what people call a “stay at home mom” – while also handling other jobs related to my husband’s business, my brother’s business for another stage, and all of our home’s finances. Many people wouldn’t consider this a “profession” however I do. Running a home and raising a family is not a small task. It’s a more than full-time job that teaches you the ability to manage many important things at the same time and holds more responsibility than most people’s everyday jobs. This exercise of multi-tasking throughout my whole life has prepared me to be an entrepreneur today, because I know how to handle what’s most important at any given time, even when you have a million other things to do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I don’t really go out that much, but without a doubt, I would take them for walk at the Miami Beach Boardwalk, because it’s so nostalgic and to me still holds memories from when I came here as an immigrant in the 1980’s. I would then take them to have lunch at Almacen Central in Little River, I strongly feel what the owners have done there is very special and their food it amazing.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this to my family. Thank you for believing in me, in my imagination and giving me the support to be able to make this a reality.
