We had the good fortune of connecting with ALEKSANDRA MARZEC and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi ALEKSANDRA, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Aleksandra takes great pride in her abilities to communicate successfully in today’s global real estate business environment. She is a graduate of the University of South Florida and
has dedicated herself to continued in-depth, specialized training and education in both the
real estate and business worlds, keeping abreast of current overall economic factors that
so greatly relate to providing unmatched professional services to clients and customers.
Aleksandra’s business background includes Public Relations, Marketing, International Business
and Sales. She also has comprehensive training in Real Estate Investments, Financing, Foreclosure and Bank Owned Properties, Exchanges and Creative Financing. Of particular
significance, is her effort to always stay current with new marketing techniques and most
importantly , the economic factors which influence our local real estate market .

Interview with a Licensed Real Estate Broker

When a friend assigned me the job of interviewing a real estate agent for a magazine article he also said I would thoroughly enjoy it. He was right but I was not convinced. Sensing my hesitation, he quickly spilled over the standard public relations attributes: good looking female, brains, interesting, tall, intelligent, charming, etc.

Later I would find that those pluses were just the start.

I talked to Aleksandra Marzec, my new subject, on the phone and we agreed to meet at a title company where she was doing a closing that afternoon. She walked out of the office, tall as described, yes, very good looking, full of self confidence and a great, dazzling smile full of ice-white ivory, immediately in charge of the situation.

A definite European accent in her voice leads to the obvious questions. Aleksandra was born in Olawa, Poland, a small city in the country’s Southwest corner, where the Polish, Czech and German borders meet. Her parents, Danuta and Zygmunt Marzec were born and raised in this rural agricultural region. Her mother was a teacher at Aleksandra’s elementary school and her father a professional soccer player, a regular sports jock, very competitive in a number of sports. Closest to her Dad, Aleksa soon developed the physique and stamina to keep up with him. Academically speaking, however, it was a different story as her mother, a strict faculty member, could not permit anything short of excellence.

Zygmunt left the family when Aleksandra was still quite young. He wound up in Canada where she would spend summers with him regularly all the way into her teens. An extremely good student, she earned the opportunity to attend the International Business College in Wroclaw, Poland. After two years of languages, finance, administration and international relations she emerged, ready to traipse around Europe and make her own mark.

A year later a close friend would bring astounding news to the family. She had secretly submitted Aleksandra’s name for a U.S. visa in what was then a lottery system for immigration to America from Europe. Strangely enough the thought of living in Florida had never seriously crossed her mind except for an occasional fantasy of going to Orlando and doing all the scary rides at the various theme parks.

She decided it was destiny and the tortuous documentation steps began. Her mother, however, was not sure this was what she wanted for her daughter.

When the embassy in Warsaw stipulated that the then 19 year old Aleksandra would require a parent traveling with her, mother balked. The project seemed scuttled until Alexsandra lobbied friends and family, who intervened. An old friend from Poland, now living in Clearwater and a naturalized U.S. citizen, came to the rescue signing on as their sponsor and saving the project.

A determined Aleksandra, finally on American soil, hit the ground running by enrolling full time at the University of South Florida at Tampa. The language barrier was soon tamed as she worked on her B. A. Four years later she graduated, an expert in Business Administration, Marketing and Interpersonal Relations.

In those years she filled in her spare time with scuba diving, martial arts, and modeling. With her new degree in hand she landed a starting position with Northwester Mutual Life and later with Sunbelt Software, where her advanced statistical skills got notice. One thing led to another and before the year was out she was representing them at Microsoft Trade Shows. Liking the team but hating the pace she went searching for a bigger challenge. After consulting with her Finance teacher she boarded the Florida Real Estate juggernaut and obtained her real estate license. For the next two years she enjoyed stints with Help-U-Sell, Exit and Keller Williams, all top realtors, but her ambition was not yet satisfied. Aleksandra, now a seasoned and fully licensed broker, wanted her own company.

In September of 2004, Florida Suncoast Properties began its existence as a full-service realty with a hungry but determined staff of 2. Life was good and just about to get better.

What do you consider formative influences in your career?

“Investors”, she quickly answers. “It is fascinating how precisely and quickly they arrive at their decisions and how easy it is to work with them. The more successful they are the easier it gets. They know what they want and all I have to do is provide it. I much prefer fast paced, high stakes transactions which fit real estate investors perfectly.”

What are some highlights in your real estate career?

“It’s hard to single out any one situation but my first sale was a big rush and very satisfying, of course. I also got a big bang out of telling one seller that I could sell her house inside of two weeks for more than the asking price and delivering on my promise. In ten days the house, which had been listed for over a month at $140,000, sold for $171,000.”

Do you have any other passions, not work related, that you feel strongly about?

“Well, business IS my real passion but, yes, I love art… paintings, sculptures, museums, galleries. I’m a big admirer of Salvador Dali and have been to the Dali museum in St Petersburg several times just to relax and enjoy the exquisite mastery within the collection.

Having lived in Europe for so long I came to see a lot of great architecture and works of art from many periods. This has framed my taste level and appreciation of both fields. However, I am more in my element among the abstract, impressionist and modern styles of painting and sculpting. I like Calder, Picasso, Robert Indiana, Chagall, Miró, etc.”

I noticed on your website that you sponsor the protection of wildlife, primarily the big cat family. Is this also a passion?

“Yes, thank you for asking. I can’t tell you exactly when I started this interest in big cats since somehow I’ve always liked them. A few years ago, after I came to the U.S., I joined in a project, “Traveling Wild Life,” that strives to protect their natural habitat and prevents their senseless killing. I decided then that I had to learn from the bottom up all about their needs and vulnerabilities. So, at the local zoo I volunteered and soon was deep into cleaning their cages, nursing, caring for and feeding them, plus training others to do the same. It has been a fascinating and rewarding activity that has given me as much or more than I have given to it. In the not too distant future I would like to start a local chapter to bring more awareness to their endangerment.”

How about your own personal goals and vision?

“To me it’s very clear; I’m committed to my profession and convinced that my strong work ethic is the key to success. My strategies are working well and unfolding just as I’ve planned. I’d like to eventually have a large agency, perhaps opening satellite offices in Miami, West Palm Beach, Ft Lauderdale, Sarasota, etc.”

“I already know a lot about properties and investments but there is a lot more to learn. I know I have benefited from the lessons and tutorship of others who were patient and caring. I’d like to be able somehow to correspond to their kindnesses by establishing an award based system of recognition for those real estate agents, agencies and staffs that go out of their way to give service above and beyond the call. There could be measurable categories of professional performance, ethical conduct and service to the community that would lend recognition to the true professionals in our field.”

“To me it all starts and ends with the customer, the prospect. Regardless of whether you represent the buyer or the seller, your own interests are very secondary. If you have done all that you can to further their objectives, such as developing marketing plans, researching, scheduling open houses, advertising, e-mail campaigns, etc., you will have the satisfaction and results to justify your commissions. This investment of your time and effort invariably results in referrals and word of mouth, the two strongest indicators of a successful and dedicated agent or agency.”
