We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Wilson-Riley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Most times the hard decisions are always the ones that you need to take to experience change. The most important things to think about when considering anything a risk is :
-Discern whether its your mind talking or your intuition.
-How well will taking this risk change my life?
-What good will come out of this?
– If I do this will I regret it?

For me I always tell myself ” if you don’t try you won’t know” and 100% of the time when I take these risks my life basically fast forwards.

If you think about 5/6 ways it will change your life for the better just do it. YOU WILL BE FINE!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Firstly, I am a born creative. My imagination stays wild lol. Love to sing, Love to dance and Love art. I went to school for building construction and architecture as I was very much entered in how buildings were built and how I can use this knowledge to make a great change when it comes to design. I ended up getting a job at an agency with no knowledge of digital marketing but I succeeded due to my creative side. Moving from agency to agency and event companies I realised that Jamaica is missing something when it comes to marketing and advertising digitally. The have no feeling behind it.

I market to peoples emotions and lifestyle. How can this vehicle improve this mother who has a hard time moving around with kids and having a small business?, How can this Software help to organise and bring a bit or ease this entrepreneurs life?

Yes my mission is to sell a specific product but I need to come down to the consumers level. Break down the target and put myself in scenarios that they may face in their life experience. After that I get inspired to create content that will let them know that ” Hey we were thinking about you and we can show you how this product will help you”

I use this approach with my candle business. I create candles with the intention to bring stillness to the mind, warmth to the body and a bit of love to your heart. When you light one of my candles you whole atmosphere changes. I also give persons a card to write their intentions on so that while the candle is lit they focus only on that one thing until they figure out how to achieve it .

Challenges I face during my career is people don’t like to come into contact with someone who strongly believes in their abilities and are able to apply exactly what they set out to do and that’s ok we are all human and I don’t hold it against them because that’s their defence mechanism. I find that I go though a lot of difficult people and from dealing with each one I become a better person as I learn to accept them and don’t take things personal and just get on with my job. Whether I don’t like the circumstances of the organisation or dislike my manager’s behaviour, I never let that show in my work. I still give 100% like always.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
That’s easy because I am that friend LOL I would take them to :
– Castleton Gardens River to get a cleanse and just enjoy nature
– Roast fish spot in Portmore Jamaica
– Reggae Garden Resturant and bar in Golden Spring St. Andrew.
– Pot luck with family and friends so they can experience different dishes cooked with love
– Party outside of Kingston
