We had the good fortune of connecting with Albert Chica and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Albert, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
It has to be staying postive, disciplined and driven each day to succeed and to overcome any challenges that may arise.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are proud and excited to bring a little of the Southwestern United States landscape to South Florida. We offer beautiful and unique desert plants (cacti, succulents, agaves, etc.) to home and businesses. We strictly specialize in desert, drought tolerant plants and provide free delivery anywhere in South Florida. We also provide delivery of succulents/cacti arrangements that can be paired with balloons and chocolates for all types of special occasions. Living in a tropical climate like South Florida, surrounded by water and palm trees did bring a few small challenges early on. First, the weather (rain, humidity and the rainy season) in South Florida can be detrimental to desert plants as their natural habit is hot, arid and dry. Understating that some plants do better than others in this type of environment with proper soil and care they can thrive perfectly. Second, having to change the mindset that desert plants are just strange, spiky plants and are not as beautiful as native South Florida plants. Through our websites, social media and local events we have shown the beauty of desert plants from the unique beautiful flowers and blooms they produce, to the benefits of being drought tolerant. We are seeing more and more South Florida homes moving forward with some type of xeriscaping.
As a business we are passionate about maintaining a high level of customer service and quality of products that our customers will enjoy. We want our company to be recognized as the go to business for desert plants and xeriscaping needs in South Florida.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The great thing about living in South Florida is there’s always something to do. Spending some time in The Keys just relaxing enjoying the weather is a must. You can also do some fishing, boating, diving, etc. while there. You can also take a short cruise out of Miami or Ft. Lauderdale to the Caribbean or surrounding Islands. Enjoying a day at the beach anywhere along the coast from Ft. Lauderdale to South Beach is a must. Plenty of great places to eat, drink and people watch in Dade and Broward County.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother. She has always been there to support and encourage my desire to own my own business. She instilled from early on strong work ethics, discipline and the tenacity to overcome any challenges life would bring.
