We had the good fortune of connecting with Naisha Nicholas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Naisha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Before starting my company Urban Relations, I recognized a need for PR and digital marketing services, especially for Caribbean events and Reggae artists.

I took several factors into consideration such as who will be my customer, my competition, and potential revenue streams. I saw a void and began to fill that empty space by working with some of the biggest Caribbean festivals such as the Grace Jamaican Jerk Festivals in Florida and NYC, Best of the Best Concerts, and my company also won a Grammy with Morgan Heritage for Best Reggae Album in 2016.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Starting my own digital services business was a big step for me, but it was also an opportunity to showcase my expertise in one specific area, email marketing. I learned that if I focused on a specific skillset I could help my clients increase their KPIs and that would speak volumes about my abilities.

And that’s exactly what happened.

As my clients saw the positive impact of my email marketing strategies, larger companies took notice. Eventually, I was offered the opportunity to lead the email, sms, & app push marketing efforts for the largest mobile provider in the Caribbean between 2018-2021. Currently, I am one of the leaders for email marketing and customer experience at the largest and most well-known providers of home security systems and monitoring services in the United States.

Combining my passion for data analysis and optimization I’ve been able to deliver successful campaigns. It’s one thing to have a good understanding of email marketing, but it’s another to be able to use that knowledge to create real, tangible results for your clients. That’s what sets me apart and what attracted the attention of these larger companies.

I am committed to continuous learning and self-improvement, and I am always looking for new challenges and opportunities to grow my skills and achieve success.
