We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Ditzel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Two words. SUPPORT. SYSTEM. I truly would not be successful if it wasn’t for my family allowing me to take a leap of faith and go full-time with my business, the clients who have been there since the beginning, and my friends encouraging words and help along the way. So Many people believe in me and want what’s best for me, and won’t allow me to give up. I know at any point my friends and family will have my back, and of course my long term clients who I’ve built relationships with.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an extremely passionate and driven person. If there is something I set my mind to, its getting done. I love setting and achieving goals for myself, even if they’re “small wins”. I’m most proud of taking the risk to work for myself, I’m hard on myself and I’m afraid of failure so, quitting my job and relying solely on myself has been scary. Nonetheless I’m proud of the step towards my success and excited for whatever the future holds. Nothing is ever easy, everything worth it takes a lot of hard work, tears, stress, and sacrifice. Each failed experiment or unhappy customer has taught me something and changed the way I operate but, has never stopped me.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would definitely hit up the beach, we have to pick up a pub sub on the way, lay up and people watch. haha. I know we will be hungry again after being in the sun and one of my favorite restaurants for just good food is Las Vegas Cuban Cuisine. You can never go wrong with Chicken Milanesa and a fresh lemonade. Day vibes are more our thing and one of my favorite brunch spots is Limonada, I love the atmosphere and the food is amazing. Of course a trip to south Florida is nothing without going to Wynwood for night vibes and hitting up 1-800-lucky, especially when the DJ is good.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
One of my best friends Karla, she is also a cake decorator and my BIGGEST supporter. We met working at Cookies by Design about 10 years ago, she has taught me a lot about cake decorating and is always someone I can count on. Although she is a cake decorator as well, she is one of the most selfless and supportive people I know. She is constantly shouting me out, giving me ideas, helping me with pricing, you name it. There have been plenty of times that I’m swamped or I’m not feeling well and I know she is just one call away and will drop everything with no hesitation. I couldn’t ask for a better friend, or “coworker” haha.
