We had the good fortune of connecting with Marko Devčić and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marko, what do you attribute your success to?
Definitely the love and passion towards what I am doing. Spending time in nature and fishing is something I’ve been doing since I was three years old, so creating content in these environments comes very natural to me. Through social media, my followers are immersed in my fishing journey, wherever I may be – any ocean, river, lake, canal, country, or continent. The feedback I receive from my followers is very inspiring, and that keeps me going.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In this world where we are consumed by technology, I do believe part of my mission is to show people that they will be mentally prepared for life if they spend more time in nature. We all feel great when we spend time next to the ocean or river, without even knowing why. We are all part of nature and we reach the highest level of homeostasis when we become one with nature – fishing, mountain climbing, kayaking – it’s a meditation on its own. What sets me apart from others is that realization, and that I am able to teach this concept to others. I am very proud and excited about the feedback I’m getting from my content. People write to me to tell me that watching my content has motivated them to spend more time in nature, take that fishing trip they’ve been postponing, or prioritize time outdoors. Global Fisherman began because of my combined love of travel and fishing. It is mainly a catch and release concept, showing respect and admiration towards the opponent on my hook and releasing it back to its environment. I have gained a constant following over the last two years and it keeps growing. Now, I think my brand is evolving and becoming a positive influence for others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love to go to The Keys. Lazy Days in Islamorada is a perfect vibe. A slightly different vibe, but equally great is PaperFish Sushi Bar in Brickell, where the pork buns were the best I’ve ever had. I love the Brickell area, all the restaurants and walking by the ocean. If my friend were visiting, we’d for sure go to a Miami Heat game! And lastly, I would definitely take my friend on a fishing charter to explore Miami from the sea, especially at night.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Every success in my life is connected to wrestling, my past coaches, and the sport itself. I dedicated over 20 years of my life to that tough, fighting sport. As a professional athlete for the National Wrestling Team of Serbia, I learned what it means to never give up and built a strong character that carries me through every experience – even the ones where I’m walking through jungles to get to the best fishing spot. And the last shoutout goes to my wife, who actually invented the name Global Fisherman. She’s given me her full support to do what I love and continue this journey.
