We had the good fortune of connecting with Helin Cetin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Helin, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Without taking a risk I would most likely still be sitting in cold Germany doing things that absolutely do not fulfill either me or my purpose. It’s essential for your self-growth, after accomplishing anything that was out of your comfort zone you automatically start going on a journey of adventures. The little things and little adventures start taking place after you took a risk. Never forget that after you took one big risk, there’s no going back. And I think, that part is what scares most people, the fact that it’s not undoable. Now the question always leads to “Is it worth the risk?”

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When it comes to Art it’s important to acknowledge any fear you have. Your creativity will grow and maybe even peak when you confront anything that makes you feel certain emotions. I like to confront myself oftentimes, when I first moved here and saw the industry recording processes etc. it scared me tons. I knew nothing, from the lingo to the process as we like to say in German it was “Neuland”. I started using it to my advantage.. not being from here and knowing less actually had people teach me more than I needed! Therefore, I believe asking and learning helped me a lot with my art. Analyzing patterns, people, emotions, and trauma paved the path for my music. A mix of emotions and intellect.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d probably take my friend to a Rosetta Bakery for Breakfast. Follow that up with Pura Vida for Lunch and a good home-cooked meal for dinner. After, we’re definitely going clubbing. I love to show my friends, especially my friends from home, how crazy life can get here and explain my experiences just to have that “Do you know what I mean now??” Conversation. Besides that, I would hope to have some quality events to attend. A lot of walks around the block, random trips to CVS, and beach vibes.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank the people that life brought my way who helped me find solutions in situations where I couldn’t. From finding my way out at the airport, which was extremely confusing for some reason, to helping me upgrade my life a step at a time. Also, I want to give thanks to every stranger that left me with an inspiring conversation. I highly believe we get messages through people and that’s what life is all about, a give and take.
