We had the good fortune of connecting with Camille Burke and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Camille, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking has forced me out of my comfort zone, it has allowed me to tap into skills I didn’t know that I had. Risk taking has helped me to prioritize myself, set boundaries, set wild goals and train my mind to think as I leader as I was never in a leadership position other then presently starting and running my own business.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
CFB Solutions Inc was started back in 2012 as a social service agency to assist members in the Tri-County area Dade, Broward and Plam Beach. The ages ranges from adults 18+ and older. CFB Solutions Inc is a mental health agency providing individual, couple, group and family mental health counseling serving a variety of needs. CFB Solutions Inc also provides case management and referral services to local agencies by advocating and linking home bound seniors to necessary services in their community.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First I would take my friends to the beach as most of my friends are from Brooklyn where I am from and the beaches up north are not as aesthetically pleasing as Florida beaches. We would have a picnic on the beach, take pictures, catch up on memories, get a bike and ride around the beach. We would also go on the Jungle Queen Cruise and tour the city’s beautiful intercostal view. I would then take them to down to Sistrunk  an inner city in Fort Lauderdale, FL  educate them about Dr. Sistrunk, how the city obtained it’s name as well educate them about other black historic leaders in FL in that era when the city was developed.  I would give them a history lesson about this historic city that holds much of South Florida’s black history, knowledge and secrets.

I would also have to take them take a tour of the African American museum.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out my mother Hope Burke, who always believed in me and my biggest cheerleader. Shout out to Dr. Phyllis Scott who helped me overcame many obstacles I faced in grad school 17 years ago as a newly young single mother with few resources. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for her support. I would like to shout out Mrs. Kim Jolly a mentor who pushed me to get licensed and pushed me out of my comfort zone which motivated me to see my dreams come into fruition.
