We had the good fortune of connecting with Sunny Carroll and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sunny, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
As an entrepreneur of three successful businesses I learned from a young age how important it is to take risks when you have a dream. When you want to start a brand you have to be willing to walk away from a stable 9-5 5 day a week job to start working 24/7 for yourself. The first few years were hard for me and I had to pour all of my focus in one place, but now at 28 years old I’m able to be a stay at home mom and live very comfortably off of my income. When you work a corporate job you’re simply making the owner of that company rich while making yourself exhausted. Becoming an entrepreneur can be scary at first but if you have a vision and the drive to get up every morning pushing yourself to work hard and build your brand, you will succeed!

What should our readers know about your business?
I live in a small town called Destin Florida and have always wanted to be the first to create an official apparel brand for our area. It took YEARS of fear and doubt to turn my dream into reality and I’m beyond grateful for my husband who pushed me out of my comfort zone to finally pursue my dream. Investing tens of thousands into a brand can be scary when you have no idea if anyone will like your designs or place orders. I spent months drawing out designs just to see certain ones hardly sell, but as I zoned in more and more over the first year I found my niche and realized what my consumers were really liking! I’m Proud to say I know get orders from all over the world and am overwhelmed at how many people love Destin and the apparel I work so hard to create!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the Destin jetties it’s the most beautiful beach scenery ever with the rocks and everything! 324 gulf shore drive
Destin FL 32541

Seaside FL, Rosemary Beach and Alys Beach FL areas are beautiful for photos and there’s fun food trucks and what not!

Visit the Destin commons mall and the silver sands outlet mall if you want to shop. Beach Camp Brewery is AMAZING and Pecan Jacks is our favorite local ice cream shop. Thai basil, red onion and Formula Fresh are delicious, Surf Hut is great because it’s on the beach. Dewey destins on the Bay (not on the harbor) is everyone’s favorite. Power Up Watersports is a good place to rent boats and jet skis if you want to take them to crab island!
The harbor walk village is a great spot to walk around and so is Grand Boulevard. Families really like Baytowne Wharf.
Morrison Springs and Vortex Springs are amazing as well but they’re a little Drive from Destin…totally worth it though. Oh and the Navarre Beach drive along the high dunes is absolutely breathtaking and Fort Pickins is cool if you like history.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m grateful to my amazing husband, Corbin, for not just supporting me in my business venture but for being the one that pushed me out of my comfort zone to start this apparel brand when I was too scared to take that first step on my own. And I’m grateful for Jesus Christ who has helped bring such much success to The Destin Life Style
