We had the good fortune of connecting with Caroline Soubrier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Caroline, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“THE DETAILS ARE NOT THE DETAILS, THEY MAKE THE DESIGN,” said Charles & Ray Eames major American architects and designers of the 20th century.

This affirmation is very true about DESIGN of course but it is true also about LIFE/HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS, and that makes it UNIVERSAL, that is why it is so significant to me,

How could you build an iconic chair without highest attention to details, best materials, taking adequate time, and same: how could you build a meaningful relationship without carefully listening to the other, precisely understanding what makes her/him happy in order to bring her/him positive things, joy, and be able to share with sincerity and respect.

So “The details are not the details, they make the RELATIONSHIP”! if I may, dear Charles & Ray Eames 😉

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a CHILD I was constantly drawn to all sorts of MATERIALS like leaves, paper, shells, wood which allowed me to create ARTISTIC COMPOSITIONS for my loved ones ( lucky them;)

This fascination took me to study Interior design which is a beautiful playground about materials, so I graduated as an INTERIOR DESIGNER.

Then my career took me from an interior design agency to COSTUME JEWELRY where I designed collections for 10 years, then to the creative studio of a FRENCH PARISIAN FASHION HOUSE for more than 25 years.

At the same time, at a personnal level, I continued to explore more and more about materials, through the work of LEATHER (BAGS, sellier stitching), PHOTOGRAPHY.

Today, after exploring so many areas, I reach the essence of my vision . . . « TO REVEAL BEAUTY ” in the simplest way possible.

are the words that characterize my work

I hope you will enjoy discovering my universe! I will attend SPECTRUM MIAMI Art show Dec 6-10, 2023, my work will be showcased by Mecenavie french gallery, hope you will visit!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well very unfortunately I’m not living in Miami but if I’m lucky enough to go one day, here is the beautiful welcome that I would dream of, tell me what you think:

my friends would start by organizing a little photo contest in the ART DECO HISTORIC DISTRICT, more “spicy” than just a visit, and the winer (me maybe 🙂 of the “most creative photo award ” would be invited for lunch at the restaurant ESSENSIA at the Palm & spa Hotel.

Then they would take me to Winwood to show me this creativ-arty area before a “Pause gourmande” at Zak the Baker (295 NW 26th Street). I’ve been told that their breads and viennoiseries are as delicious as french ones!

Living in Paris, my advice if you’re lucky enough to come one day, would be to book a cruise on the seine at night when the sun set. It is such an enchanting moment to enjoy with a glass of champagne that you will remember forever!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My friend Valérie deserves a shootout for BLOWING MY MIND when we first met. We were 11 years old. The teacher was late. Valerie grabed a pen and started to draw a portrait of Leonard de Vinci, to pass the time, just like that, in few minutes ! I couldn’t believe what I saw at this moment. This ” pulled the trigger” of WHO I MIGHT BECOME, bringing to my consciousness the concept of BECOMING ONESELF.

My Mom Marthe, pianist and music teacher, deserves a shoutout for bringing to me the WORLD OF MUSIC AND PERFORMING ARTS. She used to organize concerts and performances in our small town and to keep the artists at home for diner after the show or for the weekend. I was a teen and it was so natural to me to go skiing with the fabulous roumanian pianist TAMAS VESMAS, or to listen the amazing choregrapher Dominique Bagouet debating about BEJARD or Carolyn CARLSON until veeeery late at night!

My Dad Jean-lou deserves a shoutout for being such an amazing JEWEL DESIGNER and CRAFTMAN, so INSPIRATIONAL to me. He taught me so much about the gesture, the materials, the welding, smelting in the magical atmosphere of his workshop where the raw material was transformed.

My daughter Margot deserves the last but not the least shoutout of this article for being always so supportive, CHALLENGING, believing in my art, always AVAILABLE to encourage, giving me her opinion (very incredibly sharp), suggesting a different approach, congratulating, helping me with specific skills of her like programing and others. She’s a gift of life, and believe me (because I can hear you from here 🙂 I’m not saying this because I’m her Mom!
