We had the good fortune of connecting with Madalina Céline Coca and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Madalina Céline, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I fell in love with music when I was a little child and started singing at the age of 12. During my artistic career in Romania, I participated in numerous national and international competitions and festivals, where I won many prizes and trophies. I also had numerous TV appearances on various shows. At the age of 22, I moved to Paris and lived there for 10 years. In France, I had musical collaborations with several cover bands, and in 2018, I was a finalist on The Voice of Romania TV show. After this, I decided to re-establish myself in Bucharest, Romania. I realized that an artistic career is what truly fulfills me, and I enjoy expressing myself creatively, communicating ideas and emotions through my music, and making an impact on the world through my art.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a singer and performer, and what sets me apart from others is my unique blend of cultural influences from both Romania and France, as well as my passion for communicating emotions and ideas through music. I pride myself on my ability to connect with audiences of all backgrounds and create a powerful and memorable performance. My journey to where I am today professionally was not easy. It took years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. I had to overcome many challenges, including cultural differences, language barriers, and the competitive nature of the music industry. However, I always remained focused on my goals and stayed true to my passion for music.
One of the most important lessons I learned along the way is the importance of being patient and persistent. Success rarely comes overnight, and it takes time and effort to build a successful career. I also learned the importance of networking and building strong relationships with other artists, producers, and industry professionals. What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that I am dedicated to creating music that speaks to people on a deep and emotional level. I believe that music has the power to connect people, break down barriers, and bring people together. Through my music, I hope to inspire others to follow their dreams and never give up on their passions.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As someone who is both Romanian and French, I would like to share some recommendations for exploring both Bucharest and Paris. I am also passionate about traveling and speak 4 foreign languages fluently, so I enjoy connecting with new cultures and offering advice about my two home countries. When visiting Paris, I suggest starting the day with a visit to the Eiffel Tower, one of the most iconic landmarks that offers a panoramic view of the city. Other interesting activities include strolling along the Champs-Elysées, visiting the Louvre Museum, exploring the historic Montmartre neighborhood, or taking an evening cruise along the Seine River. To fully experience the city, I recommend trying some traditional French cuisine at a brasserie or bistro in the Latin neighborhood. Paris is a vibrant and diverse city that offers endless possibilities to discover its people, places, and things to see and do. This itinerary only scratches the surface, but I hope it inspires you to have a memorable trip to Paris.
As for Bucharest, I suggest starting the day with a visit to the Palace of the Parliament, the second-largest administrative building in the world. You can also visit the Village Museum, explore Herastrau or Cismigiu Parks, and check out the Museum of the Romanian Peasant, a cultural institution that showcases the traditional way of life in Romania.
For a more immersive experience, take a walking tour of the Old Town area to explore the historical landmarks, architecture, and local culture. The area is home to many restaurants, cafes, and bars and is a popular spot for nightlife. Bucharest is a city full of hidden gems, and I hope these suggestions help you discover some of its unique charm and beauty.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I attended Dorian’s Art Music Academy in Bucharest, my hometown in Romania, under the guidance of singing teacher Dana Dorian, who is also a vocal coach on the popular show The Voice of Romania. While living in Bucharest, I had numerous musical collaborations, and my 10 years in Paris allowed me to accumulate rich musical experience through multiple concerts and singing events. I also attended singing courses at the Maurice Ravel Conservatory in France, under the guidance of singing teacher Jasmine Roy, who is a vocal coach on the famous French show Star Academy.
