We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Angelina Postoev and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Angelina, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Over time, my work-life balance has undergone significant changes. Initially, when I started a new practice and had responsibilities in multiple hospitals, my work consumed most of my time, leaving little room for personal life. It was a continuous 24/7 commitment for several years.
However, as time went on, I began to recognize the importance of prioritizing time for my family and engaging in activities outside of work that brought me joy. I realized that constantly being immersed in work without taking breaks or pursuing personal interests was not sustainable. Although all my work is very fulfilling, I needed a variety of other fulfilling activities to maintain my mental health.
While striving for a work-life balance, I’ve come to understand that achieving a perfect equilibrium between the two spheres is elusive. It’s more about finding harmony based on personal values, priorities, and circumstances. Balancing work and life involves consciously allocating time to different aspects of life, but it may vary for each person depending on their individual goals and situations.
In my perspective, work-life balance is an ongoing process of assessment and adjustment rather than a fixed state. It requires periodic evaluation of priorities and making conscious choices to ensure that both work and personal life receive appropriate attention. The goal is to find a rhythm that allows for meaningful engagement in both realms while acknowledging that there may be periods where one aspect requires more focus than the other.
Ultimately, work-life balance is a personal journey that evolves over time as we learn and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
What should our readers know about your business?
Myself and my husband started our practice when we first moved to Georgia in 2011. We grew it from two employees me and him to almost 100 employees and four surgery centers in two states. The goal of our business is to provide top surgical medical care to the patients no matter on the location. I’m proud of our accomplishments, considering we came from other countries and had not much to start with, and in my case not even English language. We serve a large population of patients that includes 90% of underinsured and uninsured.
This was not easy start up. We both had to spend 15 or more years in medical school and surgical training. My husband also received his MBA soon after we started. We invested everything we made first 3 years into down payment for surgery center.
We overcame any challenges by working together as a team.
The best lesson is to prioritize yourself, your family and your health, and learn how to communicate with each other, no matter how painful it may sound for someone who thinks they can do it by themself.
Our Brand is growing, and we don’t turn people away with no insurance. We strive to provide affordable and transparent pricing for those who require our services, and continue to bring pricing down for many lifesaving operations.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
