We had the good fortune of connecting with Zach Edwards and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zach, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
In life it is extremely easy to give up. Giving up takes no effort, and if you’re trying to do something you don’t enjoy it’s even easier. You keep going if you’re happy. You give up if you’re not happy. Never do what makes you unhappy!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a photographer/videographer. I started this as a hobby while still in high school. Perfecting my skills over the years and pushing my creative limits has opened new doors for opportunities- flying FPV drones around exotic cars and traveling capturing stunning visuals of wildlife and scenery. Everything I have achieved and worked for was not handed to me. Nothing you want in life comes easy. To accomplish your goals you need to be determined and relentless. Focus on your future self. Do what you can today so you don’t have to tomorrow. This has been what I live by and it has helped me get closer to living my dream. I want people to know that anything is possible. If you want to be a drone pilot put in the time and practice to be the best. I’m not the best, but I work hard to be. I started my photography business when I moved to south Florida a year ago. I sold my motorcycle to buy all of the camera gear and electronics I would need to start that I did not already have. It was hard but I knew I would thank myself in the future.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spots in the city are at the beach or the Everglades. Being in the ocean sometimes surrounded by wildlife is surreal and being in the Everglades is peaceful and quiet, you won’t find that downtown. My friend and I would start with watching the sunrise on the beach and swimming/snorkeling, maybe scuba dive as well, have a quick photoshoot on the beach and go eat breakfast at Waffle House. After we would go explore the Florida keys. My favorite being Key Largo because of all of the marine life you can see. We would snorkel or scuba there and head back to watch the sunset in the Everglades, walk a path along the water where it’s quiet and you feel at peace.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Throughout my life my biggest supporters have been my family and girlfriend. Without my family I would have had a harder start into my profession.
