We had the good fortune of connecting with Belen Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Belen, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
As a working mom, and Human Resources leader with two kids, finding a balance between my professional and personal life has been an ongoing journey that has evolved over time.
When I first started my career and had young children, the challenge of balancing responsibilities was quite overwhelming. However, as time passed, I have learned to adapt and prioritize effectively.
Early on, I often struggled to divide my time between work and family, feeling guilty about not being fully present in either role. However, I realized that striving for a perfect balance is unrealistic and can lead to unnecessary stress. Instead, I began to focus on integrating both aspects of my life, understanding that some days my attention might lean more towards work, while other days it would be more centered around my family.
The key is to maintain open communication with both my family and my team at work, setting realistic expectations, and making sure everyone understands the importance of balance.
Ultimately, I have come to realize that achieving the perfect balance is an ongoing process and may look different at various stages of life. Embracing the journey and being kind to myself in the process has been vital in navigating the challenges and joys of being a working mom leader.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career has been a rewarding and transformative experience, shaped by both my professional aspirations and personal responsibilities.
What sets me apart from others is the unique blend of my diverse cultural background and experiences, which have enriched my perspective and approach to HR leadership. As an immigrant from Mexico, I bring a deep appreciation for inclusivity and empathy, making it a priority to foster an environment where every individual feels valued and heard.
One aspect I am particularly proud of is how I have overcome language barriers and cultural differences to establish myself in the HR field. My journey was not easy, and it required perseverance and determination to improve my English language skills and navigate the intricacies of a new culture. I embraced every opportunity for growth and learning, both personally and professionally, to build a strong foundation for my career.
I want to share that my brand and story exemplify the power of determination, adaptability, and embracing diversity. Together, we can build a world where every individual has the chance to succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
