Hi Carolina, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Thank you for having me. My journey with UZE finds its roots in an unexpected personal experience. While in Europe, my friends and I sought the ideal spot to capture our trip’s final sunset, while on a secluded beach. The evening, however, took an unforeseen turn. With our car stranded on what we thought was firm sand, dead phone batteries, no charging cables, and the tide coming in, we found ourselves unprepared. That chilly, dark night on the beach was a learning curve, to say the least.

Back in Miami, I took this experience as a nudge, prompting me to delve into a solution. There wasn’t a single power bank in the market that catered to diverse needs, from wireless charging to swift power output. Recognizing this gap was my first step.

With the insight in hand, UZE was conceptualized. Our objective was simple yet profound: Elevate everyday products to extraordinary heights. From understanding the market’s gaps, to concept ideation, and finally bringing the idea to life, every stage was a journey of passion, research, and commitment.

It’s been heartening to see our idea gain traction. Through crowdfunding alone, we’ve achieved over 1 million in sales. While this was a remarkable milestone, UZE’s journey is multifaceted. We have explored various channels and recently embarked on our retail adventure. We’re honored to announce that our products now grace the shelves of Smartech in the iconic Selfridges store in London, as well as the renowned Printemps in Paris.

For every dreamer out there, I’d like to share this sentiment: Every challenge is a hidden opportunity. It nudges you towards innovation. As we continue our journey with UZE, we are grateful for every experience that has shaped us, and for the vibrant community in Miami and around the world that believes in our vision.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At the heart of UZE is a commitment to innovation that seamlessly integrates into our daily lives. We don’t merely produce devices; we craft solutions. What sets us apart? It’s our unwavering dedication to versatility, power, and reliability. Over the course of our journey, we’ve introduced products like high-caliber power banks, ultra-durable cables, and GaN chargers, all designed to empower the modern individual.

But, I must say, our biggest launch is yet upcoming – the UZE Heated Jacket. It’s not just a product but a promise: warmth on demand. This isn’t just about confronting cold environments but about providing comfort, efficiency, and style across the four seasons in one package. The UZE Heated Jacket, with features like graphene heat pads and a detachable liner, exemplifies our ethos of creating adaptable, multifaceted solutions.

Journeys like these are never easy. Every success story is a mosaic of challenges, learnings, and adaptability. There were gaps in the market, hurdles in the path, but we overcame them with research, commitment, and an unyielding passion to elevate everyday products. The chilly night in Europe, with dead batteries and an incoming tide, wasn’t a setback but a nudge – a call to action.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were coming to town, I’d show them how Miami offers an unmatched blend of artistry, history, and cultural vibrancy that promises an unforgettable experience. I gravitate towards places that exude originality and creativity, and Miami is a treasure trove in that regard.

Art Deco District in Miami Beach: This is like stepping into a colorful time capsule. The district is alive with retro architecture, bold geometric shapes, and vivacious hues. And of course, the proximity to the beach means you can always take a refreshing break and bask in the Miami sun.

South Pointe Park: It’s a peaceful retreat at the edge of the bustling city. Here, you can gaze at the azure waters, observe ships sailing by, or simply take a leisurely stroll on the walkways, soaking in the coastal beauty.

Design District: Far from just a shopping area, the Design District is a celebration of creativity. Murals, installations, and avant-garde designs turn the neighborhood into a sprawling canvas of artistic expression.

Restaurants by the Miami River: Miami’s rich culinary diversity shines bright along the river. Waterfront eateries offer an eclectic mix of flavors, from zesty Caribbean to savory Mediterranean dishes, all served with a side of stunning river views.

Wynwood: This district is a living testament to the power of street art. Wynwood Walls and its surrounding streets are adorned with dynamic murals, each telling its own story. It’s more than just a visit; it’s an immersive artistic journey.

To me, Miami isn’t just a city; it’s an ever-evolving tapestry of tales, colors, and flavors. With every visit, you unveil a new chapter, making each experience fresh and captivating.

Reflecting upon the journey of my life, it’s abundantly clear that I haven’t reached this point solely through my own endeavors. The bedrock of my accomplishments lies in the tireless efforts, unwavering support, invaluable mentorship, and boundless love I’ve received. My parents have been a guiding light, instilling values and resilience within me. My family has consistently stood by my side, cheering me on through every high and low. And amidst them all, my partner, with his ceaseless encouragement and unyielding faith in my abilities, has been my beacon.
