Meet Berachiah Joachim | Social Media Content Creator & MBA Student

We had the good fortune of connecting with Berachiah Joachim and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Berachiah, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
My definition of success has several layers to it. Often times we always correlate success with having “things” and assets, which for most is just enough. It is okay to
strive to have monetary gains and what not but for me the meaning of success is much
deeper and profound than that. Growing up, I’ve always struggled with my self-
confidence, as most women do. With that, came the inability to believing in myself, my
talents and my God given gifts. I was such a people pleaser and at times I would do
things because “others” told me to do it, not because it was something I was passionate
about or even enjoyed. As I have gotten older, I truly believe that success, to me, has
meant living an authentic life, a life where you are living on your terms and not on
anyone else’s. You are simply doing things that you want to do. There is a sense of
freedom when you know you’ve accomplished things because you thoroughly are
passionate about it and not because you felt the pressure to pursue such thing. I always
strive to feel fulfilled in whatever it is that I am doing. I’ve obtained the accolades, the
degree’s, the recognition but is it really success if you feel like you did it for others and
not for yourself? Again, you can strive for the nice house, the nice car, the beautiful
famil, I strive for all of those things but, if those things don’t equate to what I actually
want out of life, is it success? At the end of the day, you want to be able to feel like your
life mirrors who you are as a person. The bigger picture matters, making an impact, big
or small, matters. Through my success, if I can inspire one person, then I’ve done my
job. Living an authentic and fulfilled impactful life is the ultimate meaning of “success” to
me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My content creating journey began back in 2019. Although, I have always been someone very creative and loved documenting such things as my outfit choices to the
kind of beauty brands I loved, I did not start to get monetized until 2019. In 2019 I
landed my first ever brand collaboration deal and it was with TJ MAXX. Though some
may view it as small, I was extremely stoked and excited because it showed me that my
work was being recognized and it also sparked a fire inside of me to keep going and
that I was on the right path. I would say I am more so a lifestyle content creator mainly
because I love documenting it all, from beauty to fashion to just everyday life, I do it all.
Although my journey has been rewarding, I would be lying if I said that it was easy. Like
most creators, a lot of us suffer from imposter syndrome and self-doubt. You are always
comparing yourself to the next. But over the years, I have embraced my journey
because I genuinely love creating and am in it for the long haul. One piece of advice
that I would give to anyone considering starting their own content creator journey is to I
always remind yourself that this is not a sprint but a marathon. You have to have a
genuine passion for it or else you will just burn out. Since 2019, I have worked with
brands such as OGEE Beauty, Target, PARADE and several others. I love building
relationships with brands especially when it is a brand I genuinely love. I also feel as a
content creator it is imperative to be authentic to your audience, whether big or small.
Authenticity is one of the factors that set you apart from the “fakes”. I enjoy working with
brands I genuinely like and sharing that with my audience. As of right now, my main
source of deals come from my Instagram but I am also in the process of growing my
audience for both TikTok and YouTube. One of the main reasons I enjoy being a
content creator is that it allows me the platform to really make a difference in other
people’s lives. Being a Haitian American, we are often times not fully represented in
certain spaces, and social media marketing is one of those spaces to be exact. As time
goes on, there are conversations that are being had that have opened the minds of
other Haitian creatives and now for the first time ever, you’re starting to see an influx of
those people embracing their true passions and it is really beautiful to see. We all are
individually different and each of us can learn something from one another. Which is
why I always have the mindset that it’s “collaboration” over “competition”. There is room
for all of us to win.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in South Florida, there are so many little nooks and places you can explore. For me, one of my favorite places to go to is Rosemary Square – Downtown West Palm
Beach. From shopping to dinning, it has it all. My favorite local spot would have to be
Flagler drive. It has such a nice view of the water and beautiful real estate as well. It has
been such a staple for me to go there on the weekends, a tradition that’s been a part of
my life since I was in high school. Though it may look different now than in my high
school days, it still offers some of the best spots in South Florida. Also, one of the perks
of being a Floridian is having access to the endless beaches. From Lake Worth to Fort
Lauderdale, you can never go wrong with a beach day. So having a beach day would
definitely be at the top of my list for sure.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
