Hi Luis, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting Filardo Realty was a journey fueled by a passion for real estate and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of foreign investors, especially those who may be considered minorities in the US. My entrepreneurial spirit was instilled in me from a young age, and at 16, I ventured into the business world. Over time, I realized the potential of combining my modern perspective with my mom Eiling’s extensive 15 years of experience in the real estate field. Together, we founded Filardo Realty, aiming to assist foreign investors in growing their wealth through strategic real estate investments.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets Filardo Realty apart is our comprehensive approach. We’re not just a real estate agency; we’re a one-stop solution for foreign investors, guiding them through every step of the investment process. My mom’s expertise is fundamental in the business operation, providing a solid foundation of knowledge and industry insights. On the other hand, I contribute by staying abreast of the latest market trends and leveraging technology, particularly through social media and online platforms, to bring innovation to the real estate business.

The main goal of Filardo Realty is to cater to foreign investors, especially minorities, who seek opportunities in the South Florida real estate market. We understand the challenges of building trust, especially in an online environment, and we’ve worked hard to establish credibility and reliability. Convincing our clients to invest in properties they may not have physically seen is a hurdle we’ve overcome by consistently demonstrating our commitment to advising them in their best interests.

Our expansion into the Latin American market is a testament to our ambition and dedication. We believe in the potential for growth and wealth creation through real estate investments, and we want to extend our expertise to a broader audience. This joint venture with my mother reflects our combined strengths, blending experience with a modern perspective to navigate an evolving market.
The journey hasn’t been easy, and building trust, especially with international clients, presented its challenges. However, perseverance has been our guiding principle. No matter how many obstacles we faced, we always got back up, learning from each experience and growing stronger.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

If my best friend were visiting Miami for a week, I’d ensure they experience the epitome of luxury and culture. We’d start with a Sunday brunch at Seaspice, indulging in waterfront elegance. A yacht trip, soaking in the sun, would follow, offering breathtaking views of Miami’s skyline.

For dinner, we’d savor exquisite sushi at Uchi, one of the city’s upscale spots. The Wynwood Walls and Perez Art Museum would satisfy their cultural cravings, while the lush Vizcaya Gardens would provide a tranquil escape. Miami’s Art Deco Historic District and the lively atmosphere of Calle Ocho would round out a week of high-end experiences in this vibrant city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate a shoutout to my mom, Eiling, for being a significant influence and support in my life. Her unwavering commitment to teaching me values and principles has shaped who I am today. Her hard work and expertise in real estate have not only been an inspiration but also the foundation for the collaborative success we’ve achieved working together.
