Meet Marquetta Reid | Business Owner, LPN, & Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marquetta Reid and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marquetta, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to be able to work for myself so I had the time to help others. Each career field I have served in people are drawn to me. Personal connection with clients are important, but when you are working for others you have a set time schedule to accomplish things. When we are on a 9 to 5 for others we have to adapt to their methodologies and modalities. You are supporting and building another’s vision, but when you are self employed you live out your business.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
To obtain an LLC is easy, but to maintain the business and stay active in the community is hard. I love the fact that I get to make impact in the areas people are afraid to step foot inside. M.A.R.C.H LLC has been a major contributor to the homeless community and is being revamped to expand and be able to give to women and children as well. I have done a lot but my accomplishments are small in comparison to the needs of the Washington D.C, and Northern Virginia Area. People are fixated with the glitz of business not understanding the grind required in business. I have learned a lot about myself and my network as I serve others. I want the world to know that the saying of it’s better to give than receive is truth. The more I help others in their time of need being love and light the more opportunities I am presented with in life. I want to continue to make impact in the lives of people I meet because people are important.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being in Washington D.C I am located to everything and I love to go out and have fun. When family comes into town we head to D.C and explore whatever museums they desire to see. We then go grab a bite to eat and then head to the Pentagon City Mall, Tysons Corner Galleria Mall, or Springfield Mall. The next day we must head to Kings Spa in Chantilly and have a day of pampering and luxury. The days after that we just unwind and relax doing whatever. Now if the ladies want to take vacation I’d book it being a travel agent. I am currently planning a Paris Trip and a Dubai Trip. In both Paris and Dubai there are so many fun and exciting things to do.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank GOD because he has kept me continuosly. I want to thank my leadership in my church Apostle Mike & Dr. Dee Freeman are the truth. They have been supportive financially, spiritually, emotionally, and physically. They have taught me the importance of being a server leader and having a heart of Love. I have learned so much from them and I love being a member of Faith City Central formerly known as Spirit of Faith Christian Center.
