Meet Hasan Ali | Filmmaker, photographer, and co-founder of HJFilmworld

We had the good fortune of connecting with Hasan Ali and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hasan, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Living my artistic passions is the ultimate joy to me. Being able to create and share that creative energy with the talent we at HJFilmworld collaborate with is always an amazing experience. There’s power in manifesting from the imagination to the literal and physical. That happiness spreads even more when it becomes a collaborative experience where all involved now share the same goal. To make the best product possible!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What makes art great is being able to create something amazing all the while displaying your creative DNA. Showing what makes your art YOUR ART! I create most of my art along with my creative partner Jeremy Baker. Much of what we shoot is science fiction inspired. Some of the creative challenges we face is being able to shoot most of our ideas using practical effects in camera. I feel when you shoot something as practical as possible in camera it makes the experience feel more immersive as well as making your art look as photo realistic as possible. Our biggest project right now is our photography series “Synthetic Souls” . it requires that we shoot our talent featured as artificial intelligence. We literally attach metal tubing and practical effects to their bodies giving off a very visceral presentation. It all makes for a very cerebral image. This project has pushed us to a point where anything we think of creatively is possible to become reality. So far our “Synthetic Souls” project has been shot, featured, published, and exhibited in LA, Nyc, Miami, Paris, Las Vegas, and Berlin. We want to share our vision with the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The Design District and Wynwood are some of my favorite places in Miami. There’s so much art everywhere. You meet some of the most creative people in those areas. Absolutely my favorite parts of Miami.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Over the years I’ve had so many close friends, family, and business colleagues that I look up to who have truly helped myself and creative partner Jeremy Baker become the artists and business men we have evolved into. What has mentored us most is the pure art of great cinema. The art and philosophies within film inspire my every day life. Even my approach to my photography is to always have a cinematic feel. For example our photography series “Synthetic Souls” purely shows the love of science fiction cinema. I always look to the greats in cinema from Christopher Nolan to Spike Lee and strive to apply a level of quality to all we create at HJFilmworld. Cinema will always be the number one mentor and inspiration to what I do!
