We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephen Tulloch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephen, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought behind starting my own business came from owning real estate, which motivated me to create a brand that I was passionate about, which ultimately motivated me to give back to the community, and that is when the idea of creating Circle House Coffee came in mind. I wanted to provide to the community and “Give One Sip at a Time”.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One of my challenges was overcoming adversity in my early life, as many people would say I was too small to play football, then getting a full scholarship to North Carolina State University and leaving college early during my junior year to enter the NFL draft. Many people thought I was making the wrong decision to leave school, but then was drafted to the Tennessee Titans in the 4th round of the 2006 NFL draft.
During my NFL career going to business entrepreneurship programs at Stanford University, University of Michigan Stephen Ross School of Business, and University of Miami Business School prepared me for life after football and made a transition a smoother one.
The transition of retiring the game of football and having the opportunity to have a continued education after I played, prepared me for a life after football.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were to visit South Florida, I would go to several restaurants like Komodo; Go shopping at Bal Harbor, and enjoy the beach or take the boat out to enjoy sunny South Florida.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This has been an amazing journey and I owe it all to my mother as she has been my biggest supporter and motivates me everyday to be a better person. The next person I would like to recognize is Jay Lotspeich; who believed in me as a young kid and motivated me to be the best version of myself.. Without those two I I wouldn’t be where I am today.
