We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominatrix Mara and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dominatrix, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Quality over Quantity and Integrity. I will never compromise having to release a monthly photo set or a weekly Youtube video for the sake of meeting a deadline. I’ll push Myself to meet My desired schedules, but if I find that it will lessen the overall quality of My work, I won’t do it. Of course, I communicate My status to collaborators and fans, so that they are not left hanging. I prefer to be honest with My audience and since it’s rare to push projects back, everyone’s been incredibly understanding about My busy life. I won’t ever release any work that I am not proud of. Anything released to the public is a portfolio piece whether you consider it so.

As for integrity, I will also never lie. I’m too occupied with My ambitions to remember webs that skirt the truth. Also, I thoroughly believe in the Golden Rule and treat others the way I would like to be treated, no matter who they are. Besides, I’ve learned the energy you put out comes back to you. Some people call this ‘karma.’

What should our readers know about your business?
Starting your own business is never easy. The real challenge is staying in business. Being relevant in such a short-attention spanned world is maddening. For creatives to keep being inspirational while being inspired themselves is such a vicious cycle. There is a motivational meme that some may have seen before that says “Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.” It was supposed to be a joke about the “manliness” of a person and how they can best react to a situation in the wild, but it’s something I actually realistically adapt to My life. If things start to go south or sideways, you need to think on your feet and be able to shift gears. Since Female Domination has blown up because of media, it’s tough to compete with a younger generation unless you’re still revered. This is what made Me adapt to multi-media aspects and event hosting. I’m still upkeeping My photo and short film creations as well as stage performances, but I’m much more intentional and selective with where I place My energies now.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Since I am based in Los Angeles, I will paint a picture with the City of Angeles as an example although this can be translated easily to any city domestically or internationally. During the day, I like to give a tourist’s experience of visiting the big sites as well as including a local cafe, eatery, and/or museum experience. Should My Bestie not be in the Kinky Lifestyle, I would probably go to dinner by one of the beaches.

If Bestie knew of My profession and was curious, I would invite them to a Hollywood party with BDSM themes. Dungeons are also less scary to check out in the daytime, so I could also schedule some time the next day to show them My “office” space if you will. Wine tasting, West Hollywood, and Crafting can also be suggestions on the list sprinkled with cooking a three to five course meal to end the day depending on their level of enthusiasm with being a sous chef.

Should they want to experience more of what it’s like to be friends with a Dominatrix, I’d have a submissive drive Me to pick My Bestie up and drop off at the airport for door-to-door service. I would also have the sub drive Us around the city and wait on Us making sure We had a ride wherever We pleased. Some subs like to treat their Dommes and friends to meals, mani / pedi dates, massages, and of course, trips to the mall. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Family: They have been supportive of My artistic talents and helped Me through school, particularly My Mother. I’m extremely grateful for this privilege and have used My knowledge to create My own brand of business. My immediate family is also aware of what I do for a living. It may not be the direction they thought I was going to head to, but as long as I’m safe and have certain systems in places, success is the most they can hope for.

A thankful shoutout to Lisabet Sarai who is an erotic author: She was My favorite writer in a compilation book I purchased on a whim at a used book store while I was having My own sexual awakenings during My early adulthood. She has written Me custom stories and sent Me a signed book after I emailed her to thank her for her writing.
