We had the good fortune of connecting with Quincy Gainous and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Quincy, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from Miami, Florida, a teen with goals and not dreams, which I plan to accomplish. The reason for this is because my family raised me to work hard for what you want, and to not give up on the one thing you truly desire, even if it might be a long process. One thing I love doing is Entertaining people, spreading positivity really helps me feel positive, it’s almost like a win-win. As a kid, I would “perform” at family parties for the laughs and smiles of others. Till this day, I still remember that one time I sang and danced to an Usher song when I was around 8 years old. In that very moment, I got asked the one question not everyone is able to answer, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”. Till this day I still can’t give you an answer for that, because I never wanted to be just one thing, I wanted to be everything. I’ve always had such a broad imagination, from wanting to be a teacher, to wanting to be an FBI Agent, the people in my life really influenced me to want to be so many things. But as I grew older and experienced many things, I think I finally know how I want to settle down. I still won’t choose just one career, but I do know what industry I want to be in. The Entertainment Industry, it’s calling my name! It makes sense, I do love photography, not just taking the pictures but also being Infront of the camera (Modeling), I do enjoy hitting the beats to different songs and showing artistic moves with my body (Dancing), Mixing Music and bringing them to life is also another I enjoy (DJ), and the list goes on and on. For years I’ve been trying to discover myself not knowing that these Hobbies that I very much enjoy doing can be turned into a long-lasting career. And my experiences in my past really helped shape who I am today and create the mindset I now have.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It definitely isn’t easy; I’m still a kid who legally/mentally/financially can’t do everything by myself. And so having to kind of lean onto my family and friends to help me accomplish my goals alongside them living their own life is challenging. But I was raised to not give up, no matter how long the process is, because if you really want it, you will work for it. I’m an aspiring Model, Actor, and Dancer who till this day, really don’t know what I’m doing or how it’s getting done. But one thing I do know, is that it’s going to get done, and this process is going to pay off. I had to overcome many challenges, still do, but I face them head on, with patience and accountability. And as I face those challenges, I learn the necessary criteria to move forward and not make the same mistake twice. The things l’ve learned that I do want to share is to always have a backup plan for the backup plan, and to always treat others the way you want to be treated. I want the world to know that I’m growing up, and because of this, it gets harder to accomplish my goals as I begin to start preparing for the real world. But I’m still going, and I’m running instead of walking!
And to those who are my age that are aspiring to accomplish your dreams, my advice is to first have the proper mindset, turn those dreams into goals and just start, no need to set a day and time on when you want to start working hard, just start. It’s easier than planning on starting.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Honestly, I would probably take them to any spot that has the best scenery for photography! I’m all about capturing the moment and in doing so, I like to go to places that are vibrant and colorful. Now, if you were asking me, what are my favorite spots? I’d say the movie theaters because I love watching movies (especially in 4DX) and I’d also say the restaurants in the different plazas and malls because who doesn’t like to eat! I also like being actively engaged, like going to theme parks and carnivals, and trampoline amusement parks as well. My favorite spots (listed above) are where I would take my best friend. And of course, I’ll take a camera with me everywhere I go!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout two organizations that really helped me become the person I am today. With one helping me expand my knowledge of the business world and learning how to properly market myself, thank you to 3DE by Junior Achievement for helping me gain valuable knowledge which will help me in my future. And another one helping me discover myself and really learn what it is to be an Entertainer, thank you to HIP HOP KIDZ for helping me figure out my passion for the Entertainment Industry and getting over my “stage fright”, which now allows me to accomplish more than what I hoped for at a young age, open doors I didn’t think I’d be able to open. Both organizations hold a special place in my heart. And of course, we have the many individuals who supported me in my process, Family, Friends, and even my haters! Thank you to all for helping me make it to this point of my life.
