Meet Kira Shannon | Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kira Shannon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kira, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business began when I started investigating how to build wealth online. I was always interested in finance and wealth management, and spent hours every day in college learning as much as I could – from podcasts, Youtube, books, anything I could get my hands on. I realized that the best way to build capital to invest was from being paid for my results and not my time – so before I started my business, I found odd jobs that were commission or tip based. Then naturally I fell into doing social media for fun, built some incredible connections, and ultimately started my business once I observed how the successful people in my space were operating.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets my business apart from others is the amount of detail I put into everything I do. I’m a perfectionist and I make sure that the customer experience is top tier – I care deeply about my personal brand and how that integrates with my business. There is a ver thorough thought process that goes into everything I do, whether it’s a story post or an entire Youtube video. I don’t think anyone would say that running a business, especially in social media, is easy. The level of consistency that’s required to compound reach over time and convert traffic efficiently can be very difficult and there really is no concept of having a day off. The more consistent you are, the faster you learn what kind of posts your audience responds well to, how to generate higher quality content, and how to scale the reach of the content you’re posting. In the beginning, I’d work 12 hour days 5-6 days per week to just post as much as possible in order to try and understand what works and what doesn’t. Now I’m in a place where it’s not necessarily easier, but the workload is more manageable because I’m no longer in the testing phase of my business.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely love the wellness community in Miami and how fitness oriented this city is. Here is where I would take my best friend on a weekend itinerary:
Friday:
Hit a pilates class on Miami Beach, take a walk, and grab lunch somewhere outside. In the afternoon I’d bring them Coconut Grove for a drink along the marina and La Mar for dinner – the view of Brickell from the island is gorgeous!
Saturday:
Go to one of the many weekly farmers markets in town, and set up on the beach near South of Fifth. In the evening I would recommend a Cuban cooking class or a wine tasting at Chevre.
Sunday:
Run on the path along Miami Beach in the morning and then check out South Pointe Park in the afternoon. Rickenbacker Causeway is also a great place for a sunset walk in the evening.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shoutout a great friend of mine and ultimately the person who believed in me before I even believed in myself – Mario Beauzile. When we met, he asked me why I had never modeled before and I thought he was crazy. I didn’t think I had what it took to be in front of a camera! He’s a great photographer and insisted we work together on a photoshoot and after that shoot, portrait photography fused with streetwear became my creative outlet. I started working with other photographers around Boston which allowed me to begin to generate my following on social media. I’d walk around town with a suitcase full of outfits, connecting with other creative individuals in the photography and fashion scene and shooting as much as I could.
