Meet Juanita Sierra | Lead Designer and Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Juanita Sierra and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Juanita, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
One thing outsiders are probably unaware of is the immense amount of research and planning that goes into every design project. While the final result may look effortlessly beautiful, there’s a lot of behind-the-scenes work to ensure that every material and product specified isn’t just aesthetically pleasing, but also safe, functional, and tailored to the needs of everyone in the home—all while staying within budget. This is why we build strong relationships with vendors and contractors; their expertise helps us make informed decisions so that every element in a space makes sense first, and then looks stunning.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
It may sound cliché, but I am truly passionate about what I do every single day. I love transforming spaces that not only reflect my clients’ personalities and routines but also enhance their well-being. My approach is unique because I don’t impose a signature style—I blend my expertise with my clients’ preferences to create a home that feels deeply personal and functional for them. I believe that when a space is designed to support your spirit, soul, and body, it positively impacts your daily life.
Building my business hasn’t been easy, but I’ve learned that success comes from truly understanding a project’s needs, observing how clients live, and combining that with thorough research and experience. Every project presents its own challenges, especially in today’s environment, but I believe in transparency. If I don’t know something, I ask and study. I set clear expectations with clients, openly discussing lead times and processes instead of overpromising.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that open communication is the most valuable tool in any project. By keeping honest and ongoing conversations with clients, contractors, and vendors, we create a smoother process and better results.
What I want the world to know about Blu Ink Interiors is that we listen. We bring our expertise and creativity into your home, but we design for your style. As a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist, I incorporate universal design principles to ensure that every space is not only beautiful but also safe and functional for the long term. Our goal is always to respect your personal preferences while using our skills to transform any space into one that truly works for you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We enjoy exploring local hidden gems rather than the usual tourist spots. One of our favorite places for Spanish cuisine is Candela Restaurant—it’s not very big, but the service is great, and the food is absolutely amazing. We also love Emily’s Garden and Kubo Asian in Coral Springs. Otherwise, you’ll find us relaxing at the beach in Pompano or simply enjoying time at home!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well, my mom, husband, and kids deserve so much credit. They have been my unwavering support system and biggest cheerleaders since day one, always encouraging me to chase my dreams. Beyond my family, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to meet and work alongside so many talented and inspiring individuals throughout my career. Each person I’ve crossed paths with has contributed in some way—whether through mentorship, collaboration, or simply sharing their knowledge and passion. Their influence has helped shape me into the designer and professional I am today, and for that, I am truly grateful.
