We had the good fortune of connecting with David Urbinati and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David, what do you attribute your success to?
To me, what’s most important about the success of my brand is that I’m able to accurately and authentically represent myself. As a creative, the value I see in what I offer is not the product itself but my personal interpretation and ability to express myself in it. Otherwise, there are several other talented people who could accomplish the same thing. The goal and hope is that if you are coming to me for myself and I’m able to give that, then we can create something special.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art tends to be autobiographical. That’s the only way I really know how to keep it relevant and interesting to myself. Mainly, I do this through music. I do this with my animation work as well but I’m better able to serve a client with my intuition for what will translate well to their audience. I tend to spend a lot of my efforts on quality which makes me in a lot of ways a perfectionist. I see the fruits of this in my work and so do others but I am learning to allow the beauty of imperfections to be ok in the consideration of the whole. The significance of this to me is that I am constantly trying to learn from each project I tackle. Whether it be a new style of art, a new method for conducting client relationships, a more efficient way to finish a project, a different approach to rigging a character, a new sound recording technique, the list goes on. Learning and growing is hard and fun but mainly worth it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So many things. Fave breakfast spots: Aioli, Howley’s, The Blind Monk. So we’d start there in the mornings. Of course, the obvious choice is the waterfront. On Saturdays, the green market in downtown West Palm Beach is worth checking out. Let’s go check out the Norton Museum of Art one day and then the Frost science museum in Miami. An afternoon skate on the Bike trail on Palm Beach is a beautiful way to take in the skyline of West Palm over the intracoastal. Civil Society is my favorite local brewery. Lost Weekend is fun on Clematis too for tacos. I’m also a fan of Tacos al Carbon in Lake Worth. Also, Howley’s again for late dinners and everything-is-closed moments.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are obviously so many pieces, places, and people part of the sum of where I am. Most recently who has really been my source of support and sustainability in the newness of this time through COVID and freelancing as a result, is my beautiful fiancé, best friend, and fellow creative, Adriana Murphey. Thank you for your daily encouragement in both the big and small things related to my work and our lives. I’m doing what I am happily with you!
