Meet Talhia Rangel

We had the good fortune of connecting with Talhia Rangel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Talhia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my fellowship at NSU DIAL Clinic in 2020, teaching myself the ins and outs of guardian advocacy in Broward County and assisting low-income families in the community that needed these services for their children. Then in 2022, we expanded our legal services to include disability rights litigation, fair housing, public accommodations, service/emotional support animals, and special education. With my fellowship ending in June 2025, I knew I had to decide–find a firm that can allow me to still follow my passion or open my own firm and take the cases I want to take. The answer was pretty easy, especially having two little ones and a sister with Down syndrome. My passion for advocacy and empowering parents and individuals with disabilities to know what alternatives they have led me to opening Rangel Advocacy Law, P.A.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m so excited to share more about my business and the journey that led me here. My law firm focuses on serving people with disabilities and their families—advocating for their rights and ensuring they have access to the legal representation they deserve. What sets us apart is not just our legal expertise, but our commitment to understanding the unique challenges faced by people with disabilities and offering a compassionate, personalized approach. We don’t just handle legal cases; we build relationships and provide support throughout the process, making sure our clients feel seen, heard, and empowered. And most importantly, providing them with tools and knowledge that will empower them in making the most appropriate decision for themselves.
What I’m most proud of is the ability to create a space where our clients feel comfortable and confident in navigating the legal system. It’s about creating real change and offering hope to those who may not always have access to the resources or support they need. Every victory, no matter how small, is a reminder of why I started this journey.
Getting here hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth every challenge. Building a business from the ground up, while also finishing my fellowship, is a monumental task—there were moments of doubt and lots of sleepless nights. The biggest hurdle was believing in myself and my vision when it felt like an uphill battle. But I had an incredible support system: my family, mentors, and a wonderful colleague who believed in me, even when I didn’t always believe in myself. Overcoming those obstacles meant staying focused on the bigger picture and reminding myself of the impact I wanted to make and the freedom I wanted to create for myself as a “present mom.”
The lesson I’ve learned is that it’s okay to ask for help, and that building a team of people who share your values and vision is essential. In business and life in general, it’s not just about what you know, but who you surround yourself with.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that this business is built on a foundation of passion, empathy, and a deep commitment to advocacy. This isn’t just a career for me—it’s a mission, a ministry. I want people to know that when they come to us, they’re not just getting legal help; they’re gaining a partner in their journey, someone who will stand by their side.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely the two little people who call me “mommy”–who have taught me the true meaning of love and shown me how important it is to be present for every moment in their lives. And of course, my husband—who, when I first mentioned this “silly” idea, pushed me to believe in it and has supported me from day one. He still stays up with me, creating invoices, templates, and laying the foundation for this firm. Of course, my mom and dad have been my unwavering cheerleaders, proudly sporting shirts and hats with my logo and eagerly supporting me at events that showcase the firm. And last but definitely not least, my little sister, who is my constant reminder of why I do this work. She is my “why,” and I am honored to advocate for others who face the same challenges she and our family do.
