We had the good fortune of connecting with René Charles Maurice and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi René Charles, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor in my success has been the relationships that hold me accountable. My tribe—those closest to me—consistently challenge my thinking, question my ideas, and push me to operate at a higher standard. Our conversations, often rooted in business and spirituality, are invaluable. Relationships are truly at the core of RC Tours. Whether it’s vendors, clients, or team members, navigating human nature with a capable and grounded crew gives me a real edge. My goal is always to be one step ahead of the client—anticipating their needs before they even ask.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
RC Tours is more than just a tour company—it’s a reflection of my passion for adventure, connection, and creating unforgettable experiences in Miami. What sets us apart is the intention behind every experience we offer. Whether it’s our crystal-clear kayaks, underwater Seabob tours, helicopter rides, or horseback riding on the beach, each one is designed to reconnect people with nature, joy, and a sense of freedom.

I started RC Tours with just an idea and a trailer full of gear. It wasn’t easy—at times, I was told I wasn’t “official” enough or didn’t have the right permits. I faced rejection, setbacks, and even self-doubt. But I stayed the course. I believed in the vision and kept showing up, day after day. I built relationships, learned the business, made mistakes, and kept adjusting.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that being resilient and resourceful matters more than being perfect. I’ve also learned that people don’t just buy services—they buy energy, trust, and the way you make them feel.

What I want the world to know is that RC Tours isn’t just a business—it’s an ecosystem of creativity, hustle, and love for this city. Our brand stands for freedom, connection, and real moments. This is just the beginning.”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit Miami for a week, I’d make sure they experienced the city through the RC Tours lens—full of nature, culture, flavor, and unforgettable moments.

Day 1: We’d start with a Seabob adventure—cruising underwater along the coast, followed by a clear kayak or paddleboard tour to Sandspur Island. Dinner would be at Mandolin Aegean Bistro, then we’ll hit Mr. Jones for the night.

Day 2: Morning helicopter ride over Miami Beach and Brickell—gotta see the city from the sky. Then brunch at The Citadel, check out Wynwood’s murals, and wrap up with dinner at Komodo and drinks at Sugar Rooftop.

Day 3: A morning horseback ride on the beach sets the tone. In the evening, we’d hit Lido Bayside Grill or Joe’s Stone Crab, then maybe some Afro-Caribbean music at a local lounge like Coyo Taco.

Day 4: Anime + Card Collector’s Day. We’d spend the afternoon hitting up local card shops like Tate’s Comics, Golem Games,—checking for One Piece, Pokémon, and vintage collectibles. We’d grab anime-themed souvenirs, and link with fellow collectors. Dinner would be something fun and themed—like Moshi Moshi or Yardbird if we’re going for vibes. We’ll end it off ripping packs in the strip club.

Day 5: High-performance day. We’d hit a private dojo for a high-intensity functional training session, followed by cold plunge therapy and breathwork—full reset. The evening would be for grounding—light dinner, reflection, and rest.

Day 6: We’d start in Little Haiti with pate and fresh juice from Piman Boukè Bakery, then dive into the culture—art at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex, live music at Sounds of Little Haiti, and connect with local creatives. Dinner at Naomi’s Garden for that real Haitian soul food

Day 7: Free-flow day. Maybe ride out to the Keys, go off the grid, or catch one last Seabob sunset session. It’s about closing the week with gratitude, reflection, and a deep breath of ocean air.

Miami isn’t just palm trees and parties—it’s layered. There’s depth, tradition, rhythm, and a pulse that you only feel when you experience it the right way.”

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
