We had the good fortune of connecting with Chione Daniel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chione, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I opened Daniel Dentistry at 26 because I didn’t want to wait for permission to create something meaningful. I saw a gap in the kind of care our community deserves, and I wanted to build a space that felt modern, respectful, and accessible. My goal was to provide quality dentistry while creating representation in a field that often lacks it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Daniel Dentistry is a modern, patient-centered dental office located in Miami Gardens. We focus on high-quality general and cosmetic dentistry, while creating an experience that feels welcoming, professional, and personal. What sets us apart is our commitment to treating every patient with dignity, care, and respect, no matter their background or insurance status. We blend clinical excellence with emotional intelligence.

I’m most proud of how I’ve been able to carry forward the legacy of Daniel Dentistry. I purchased the office from the late Dr. Todd Smith, who served this community for many years. After his passing, I stepped in to care for his former patients and reimagine the practice with a fresh, elevated approach. My goal was to honor what he built while creating a new standard rooted in purpose, design, and modern dentistry.

The journey has not been easy. I had to earn the trust of an established patient base while navigating the realities of running a business as a young doctor. To this day, I still work both in the front and in the back of the office. I check patients in, I handle clinical care, and I manage the day-to-day operations. It’s demanding, but it reminds me how connected every part of this business is to the people we serve.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that leadership is not about being above the work. It’s about being willing to do what needs to be done and setting the tone for the team. I’ve also learned that legacy and innovation can exist in the same space. You can respect where something came from and still move it forward in a bold and meaningful way.

What I want the world to know is that Daniel Dentistry is not just a dental office. It’s a reflection of faith, resilience, and vision. We’re building something that represents excellence, culture, and care all in one. And we’re just getting started.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was coming to Miami for the week, I’d make sure they got the full experience. First stop would be the beach, of course. We’d grab smoothies from Pretty Healthy in North Miami, then head to Hollywood or Fort Lauderdale to relax by the water. It’s peaceful, not too crowded, and the perfect way to kick things off. Later, we’d go to Lil Greenhouse Grill in Overtown for dinner. The food is always on point and the vibe feels like home.

Next day would be all about the waves. We’d rent a yacht and spend the day cruising around Biscayne Bay or dock at the Sandbar with music and snacks. After we get off the water, we’d get dressed and head to Kiki on the River for dinner. It’s a whole scene and a great spot to keep the energy going.

Midweek, we’d slow it down and explore some cultural spots. We’d stop by The Urban in Overtown during the day, grab coffee at Sip & Savor, and hit Dunkanoo Kitchen for lunch. That food always hits. The energy in those neighborhoods feels real and rooted.

Thursday or Friday, we’d do something more chill. A little shopping at Bal Harbour Shops, maybe a light lunch while we’re there, then head home to relax. We’d probably order Chef Creole for dinner and just catch up on life.

Saturday would be a vibe. Brunch at iKrave for the food and the music, then a slow day by the pool. That night we’d keep it simple with a game night, some music, and snacks. Sometimes that’s better than going out.

On Sunday, we’d wrap up the week at Rise and Toast at The Urban. The food, the people, the music. It’s such a good energy and the perfect way to close out a Miami trip.

Miami has so much to offer, but when you support Black-owned spots and know where to go, it hits different. That’s the Miami I love showing off.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely. No journey is truly solo, and I’m grateful for the village that has supported me every step of the way. I want to dedicate my shoutout to my mother, who has been my foundation. Her resilience, faith, and work ethic are the reason I am who I am today.

I also want to recognize my family, including my sisters, grandparents, aunties, uncles, and cousins, who have cheered me on, prayed for me, and reminded me of my strength during every challenge.

To my patients and the Miami Gardens community, thank you for trusting me. Serving you through Daniel Dentistry has given me a deep sense of purpose and pride.

To my mentors, especially other Black doctors and business owners, thank you for showing me what is possible and for leading by example.

And to my classmates, colleagues, friends, and sorority sisters, your encouragement and presence have made a lasting impact. Every win I have experienced reflects the love, support, and belief you have poured into me.
