We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Del Giacco and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrea, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My time spent working as a therapist over the years has taught me that trauma has far reaching effects for not only the people who have experienced traumatic events but also for those who they interact with in their daily lives. It has even impacted myself and so many of my colleagues in this field, which has inspired me to create a team of trauma informed clinicians who can support as many people in our community to create a healing effect that I know will ripple out into the larger community that surrounds each of our clients. We are hoping to spread healing for those who are ready to receive it in their own time and space as we hope our service will make a difference in our world one person and community at a time.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Counseling Tree, LLC is a trauma informed group practice offering outpatient counseling services to children, families, adults and couples in our community through telehealth services available to anyone in Florida or to those who would prefer to meet in our private office located in Boca Raton, FL. What I am most excited about right now for The Counseling Tree is our growth! We are now a team of four diverse clinicians with trauma informed knowledge ready to serve our community’s need for mental health support. With many years of experience between us all, we are well equipped to support you in your journey to wellness. We can offer a safe and supportive space to help you meet your personal goals for success and well-being on your journey to healing. I am also able to offer clinical supervision to new clinicians in this field who are working towards licensure.
There have always been personal challenges that have made this dream difficult, namely my extensive history of medical traumas that have inspired me to live a life that meets my needs more effectively so I can show up as the best version of myself to serve my clients and my team of clinicians while maintaining healthy relationships at home. It has taken years in the making but we are getting closer each year to creating a safe place for both clinicians and clients to reach their personal and professional best as we take healing to the next level in our community.
The Counseling Tree’s mission is to create a place where we grow with healing and it is important to know that we do this by meeting ourselves and our clients where they are with grace, compassion, respect and safety. We have all learned that healing may not always be an easy journey, it can take work and time but we are here to show up for it alongside you as a member of your support team.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are in our family chapter of life so anyone visiting would likely enjoy some family fun activities and a few meals prepared in our home because my husband is an exceptional sous chef in a local country club so we are spoiled at home to say the least. It is a treat for anyone visiting to get a meal prepared by the chef! However, if we do go out on the town it is usually to a local brunch or dinner spot or to the movies if there is something family friendly out because my youngest loves going to the movies or to a local park with outdoor activities. We also enjoy time at the pool and the beach as this offers the most grounding activity that gives us all a great feeling to be together.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are many people who have a part in this business’ beginning but my family is the largest part of this story. My purpose has always been my family, to create a life where I could be present for them in the healthiest way possible and live my dream of offering this to other clients and clinicians. I would not be privileged enough to take the risk of starting my own business without my husband’s never ending support. He may have believed in me more so than I did at the very start of this passion project and my in-laws as well. My father in law even created the name as I was going back and forth between so many over the months when I began this process. My cousin created the logo through his generous time and creativity with only a thought and distant vision given to him at the start. My family will always be a source of inspiration, motivation and support for which I am eternally grateful.
My professional growth would not have been possible without the support of my colleagues and friends over the years, especially Carla Schneider and Melissa Stevens, they are always a personal and professional sounding board I could not do without in this life. I will always credit my first job post graduate school at The Children’s Home Society of NJ with giving me the best training any professional could ask for by gently guiding me into my area of trauma specialization with the best professional experiences in Sand Play Therapy training and EMDR as well as their supportive supervision in a particularly challenging area of this field. I will be forever grateful for all of the wonderful professionals I have met along the way who believed in me and my dedication to this field. Now, I hope to pass this on and pay it forward to new clinicians in this field as a qualified supervisor and business owner. My teammate, Kerri Ann Campbell, is the first to take a chance on me as a new business owner and I am forever grateful for her trust and work ethic as I see how this business can grow to support more people in our community and just how possible it really is as we have moved through all the growing pains and new business firsts together only to now see the growth take root and transition into a new chapter of this business that is ready to offer more support to our community.
I cannot leave this message of gratitude without offering appreciation for all of my clients whom I have served over the years as they entrusted me with their stories and allowed me to be a part of their team. It was and is incredible to witness both their growth and struggles as it is a powerful testament to see the strengths available to us all as we move through this challenging human experience called life.
