We had the good fortune of connecting with Matt Sailor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Matt, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Our people, hands down. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to work alongside a team of bright, kind, and genuinely committed individuals. Products, whether software or hardware-eventually become commodities, and competitors will always offer something similar. What truly sets a company apart is the people behind it: their service, their support, and the way they show up for customers and for each other. That’s the real engine behind our success.

What should our readers know about your business?
It was definitely not easy—that’s the honest starting point. From day one, our mindset was to identify the gaps in our industry and build solutions that filled those voids. In the video surveillance world, where we manufacture both hardware and software, competition is everywhere. But early on, we noticed a major opportunity: the lack of interconnectivity and seamless integration with home automation systems.

When we launched IC Realtime in 2006, the IoT world was just beginning. Many systems were fragmented and didn’t communicate well with each other. We made it a core initiative to ensure our products worked smoothly within the automation ecosystem. Fast forward to today, and that early commitment has positioned us as one of the leaders in seamless integration across the home automation space.

The journey taught us resilience, adaptability, and the importance of listening closely to both customers and integrators. What I want people to know about our brand is simple: we built IC Realtime by solving real problems, staying ahead of technology shifts, and never losing sight of the value of great service and great people.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
South Florida is all about the weather, the water, and the energy, so I’d start there. A snorkeling or scuba trip is a must, followed by a full day on a boat exploring some of the most beautiful waterways in the country. From there, we’d head to Joe’s Stone Crab for world‑class seafood and a true Miami staple.

No trip is complete without experiencing the Everglades-the largest subtropical wilderness in the US, so an airboat ride is definitely on the itinerary. And to wrap up the week, we’d go to Café Martorano, one of the best Italian restaurants not just in Florida but in the entire country. Great food, great atmosphere, and the perfect way to end an unforgettable visit.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Years ago, we brought in a coaching and mentorship group called The Dash Group, and it ended up being one of the best decisions we ever made. They came into our company, evaluated our people, our processes, and our culture, and helped us reshape everything from mission and vision to day‑to‑day operations. Their outside perspective revealed things we simply couldn’t see from the inside, and our company flourished because of it. A huge shoutout to Catherine Hickem and Cindy Barber for their guidance, honesty, and impact.
