We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniella Cavalcante and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniella, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
What was your thought process behind starting your own business?

Starting SkyLux wasn’t a decision I made overnight.

I’m originally from Brazil, and before moving to the United States with my family, we spent ten years living in China. Looking back, I think those experiences shaped me more than I realized at the time. Living in different countries taught me how to adapt, start over, embrace new environments, and become comfortable with the unknown.

At some point, I stopped asking myself, “What kind of work could I do?” and started asking, “What could I build?”

Aviation had already been part of my life for more than twenty years. Being married to a pilot introduced me to an industry built around precision, responsibility, and attention to detail. Over time, I developed a genuine appreciation for those standards.

I’ve always been someone who notices details—small things that many people might overlook. When I started looking more closely at aircraft care in South Florida, I saw an opportunity to create something based on those same values: quality, consistency, and genuine attention to detail.

The idea was never simply to start a business.

It was to build something I could be proud of.

When the idea for SkyLux started taking shape, my husband became someone I could learn from. His experience in aviation gave me valuable perspective as I entered an industry that was completely new to me. But the vision—and the decision to build the company—were mine.

Of course, I knew it would be challenging. Starting a business from scratch means accepting uncertainty, learning constantly, and being willing to figure things out along the way.

A year into this journey, I’m still in the building phase—creating the foundation, refining every detail, and working toward earning the trust of future clients.

To me, that’s what entrepreneurship really looks like.

It’s not about having everything figured out.

It’s about showing up anyway.

I would rather be a year into something that is mine, learning and growing every day, than still be standing on the outside wondering what could have happened.
SkyLux started with an idea, but it continues because of commitment, patience, and the belief that something meaningful is worth building. Looking back, I’m grateful I stopped looking for the next opportunity and started asking what I could build.

That question changed my life.

What should our readers know about your business?

When people ask me how SkyLux Aircraft Care started, they often expect me to talk about a business plan.

The truth is, it started long before that.
For more than twenty years, aviation has been part of my life. Being married to a pilot gave me the opportunity to experience a world built on precision, responsibility, safety, and attention to detail.
Over time, I realized I wasn’t just learning about aircraft.
I was learning a mindset.
What stayed with me was the standard behind aviation—the discipline, professionalism, and understanding that every detail matters when people trust you with something valuable.
SkyLux was inspired by that world, but it became my own journey.
It was built on one simple belief:
If something is built with excellence, it deserves to be cared for with excellence.
Aircraft represent years of dedication, hard work, and investment. Caring for them goes far beyond appearance. It’s about protecting something valuable and treating it with the respect it deserves.
At the beginning of this journey, I shared my vision with a close friend and invited her to help build SkyLux. I’m truly grateful for the encouragement and support she gave me during that early chapter.
As the company evolved, I realized the best path forward was to continue building SkyLux independently and in alignment with my vision. Looking back, I see that experience as an important reminder that every person who becomes part of your journey leaves something valuable behind.
Starting a business in a highly specialized industry hasn’t been easy. There have been moments of uncertainty and plenty of challenges, but each one has taught me something I couldn’t have learned any other way.
One of the biggest lessons has been that entrepreneurship isn’t just about offering a service.
It’s about earning a reputation.
As a woman entering a traditionally male-dominated industry, I’ve learned that credibility isn’t something you ask for. It’s something you earn through preparation, consistency, humility, and the quality of your work.
I’m not trying to build the biggest aircraft care company.
I’m trying to build the kind of company that people recommend even when I’m not in the room.
A company people remember because of how they were treated and the care behind every detail.
SkyLux is still at the beginning of its story, and I believe there’s something beautiful about that.
Every meaningful journey starts before anyone notices it.
In aviation, every successful flight begins long before the wheels leave the ground. It begins with preparation, discipline, patience, and attention to detail.
I believe building a meaningful business works the same way.
SkyLux is still learning.
Still growing.
Still earning every opportunity.
Because every aircraft has a story long before it ever takes flight.
This is simply the beginning of mine.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit Florida for a week, I wouldn’t try to check off every tourist attraction. I’d want them to experience the Florida I’ve come to love over the past few years.

We’d start in Palm Beach with a walk along Worth Avenue, followed by lunch near the ocean. It’s one of those places where you naturally slow down and enjoy the surroundings.

The next stop would be Jupiter. I love the lighthouse, the waterfront, and how peaceful it feels. If the weather cooperated, we’d end the day with a boat ride or simply watch the sunset by the water.

Another day would be spent in downtown West Palm Beach. We’d walk along Clematis Street, have dinner by the waterfront, listen to live music, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere that makes South Florida so special.

Of course, Miami would be on the list. We’d explore Wynwood, spend some time in Brickell, enjoy the mix of cultures, and find a great restaurant to end the evening. Miami has an energy that’s completely different from anywhere else in the state.

One of my favorite experiences in Florida is driving to the Keys. The Overseas Highway is just as memorable as the destination itself. We’d stop along the way, enjoy fresh seafood, take in the ocean views, and stay for the sunset.

If we had an extra day, we’d head across to Naples on the Gulf Coast. The pace is slower, the beaches are beautiful, and it’s the perfect place to end the trip.

Food would definitely be part of the adventure. Florida has an incredible mix of cultures, so we’d enjoy fresh seafood, amazing Latin food, Italian restaurants, and, at some point, I’d have to take them to a Brazilian restaurant—because no visit with me would be complete without it.

Looking back, many of my favorite memories in Florida weren’t planned. They came from weekend road trips, discovering small local restaurants, watching my son’s soccer tournaments in different cities, or making an unexpected stop somewhere beautiful.

That’s probably what I’d want my best friend to take home—not just pictures of famous places, but the feeling that Florida is best experienced with curiosity, good company, and enough time to enjoy the moments in between.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
If I could give a shoutout to someone who played an important role in my journey, it would be Alejandry Rohena, founder of AAB360 Academy.

When I first started thinking about creating SkyLux Aircraft Care, I had the motivation and a deep appreciation for aviation, but I knew I needed something more: the technical knowledge and professional training to do things the right way.

That’s where AAB360 Academy became such an important part of my story.

Through the Aircraft Detailing Certification Program, Alejandry helped turn an idea into something real. The program gave me more than technical skills—it gave me a deeper understanding of the standards, processes, and attention to detail that aircraft care demands.

What I appreciate most, though, is the confidence it gave me.

Starting a business in a highly specialized industry can be intimidating, especially when you’re building something from the ground up. Learning from someone with real experience in the field gave me the confidence to move forward with a clear sense of purpose.

Of course, a certification doesn’t build a company. The vision, the long hours, the decisions, and the courage to begin were my responsibility. But having the right guidance at the right moment made all the difference.

I’m grateful to Alejandry for sharing her knowledge, raising the standards of aircraft detailing education, and being part of the beginning of the SkyLux story.

Sometimes all it takes is one person who believes in what you’re trying to build, or one opportunity that gives you the confidence to take the first step.

For me, AAB360 Academy was that opportunity.
