We had the good fortune of connecting with Extatic Sound and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Extatic, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We believe that starting your own business is not easy and you have to be willing to make sacrifices in order to make your business grow and be successful. When starting a business, do something that you love and don’t just do it for the money. Do something that you genuinely enjoy. Use all the skills and principles you’ve learned from working at a regular corporation and apply it to your business such as waking up early, serving and pleasing customers, working over time, and even your attire or uniform. You have to be prepared for sleepless nights and be prepared to sacrifice friendships and relationships because a lot of people will not understand what you’re trying to build. Starting a business is hard work but social media makes it look fun and glamorous, so make sure you do your research before starting a business and research what it takes to make your business successful and what does success look like for you.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally? Please tell us more about your career. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Our brand Extatic Sound, keeps us very busy professionally.  Networking, marketing, and promoting our dream is priority even with the continued obstacles and challenges that we face.  Something as small as business plans go along way to keep us on track and focused on our goals. We have weekly meetings where we brainstorm our next venture to make sure we keep the communication open and together.

Now we are trying to venture into having our own events which takes more time to plan.

We are Djs and our team goes by the name Extatic Sound. The name Extatic comes from the word “Ecstatic” which means feeling or expressing overwhelming happiness or joyful excitement. That’s what we aim to provide at all times when we work at an event. Our team consists of 2 Djs (dj Brad and Dj Stretch) and a photographer/videographer (Raj). We are able to do any kind of event, anywhere in the world. We are from the Caribbean but we also grew up listening to all different genres of music which makes us versatile in all types of music. We are most proud of the journey it took to get to this point in our careers and the constant love we always receive no matter where in the world we travel to. We faced obstacles and challenges before we got to this point but those challenges are what molded us into being the Djs and people we are today. We remained humble through all the free parties we had to do, the days we had to carry cd pouches and equipment with us everywhere, getting overlooked and disrespected by some of the more popular djs and even had to stay encouraged through making mistakes in front of crowds. Those are things that come with being a dj. It wasn’t easy but it came so natural to us that we took every challenge and obstacle as a lesson and a stepping stone to getting better at the craft. We have learned that in this business you have to have Preparation, skills, social skills, business mind and most of all remain humble. Your Humility will take you a far way in this business. We always put our audiences needs first because we are there to serve them. One of the major lessons we have learned is to study the music and where it’s coming from and learn from the veterans who made it possible for us to be here. We also realize that you have to constantly be learning and researching different music and different cultures so we can entertain any event we are a part of. As djs, we want the world to see our talents and don’t try to put us in a box because we are from the Caribbean. As brothers we are trying to build a legacy that the future generation will thank us for.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you’re visiting Florida, Miami is the best place to be. We would take them to Wynwood or South Beach to check out all the art and the art district of wynwood and some great food spots such as Dukunoo Jamaican restaurant and we could drive back 40 minutes to Ft Lauderdale and check out Moments bar and grill that has great food and entertainment. South Florida is on a whole is just a great place to vacation with friends and family. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shout out to everyone that came before us and made it possible for us to be able to get on certain platforms and do what we do. All the Jamaican djs and artist from the sound system culture who created the genre of dancehall which led to the creation of hip hop, we owe it to them for creating the foundations for where we are now with our music. There are so many people present day that’s instrumental in our growth and success, from family to friends, promoters, fellow djs and even the supporters who listen our mixes on SoundCloud, watch our YouTube channel, follow our social media pages and come out to rock with us at our events. We love and appreciate all of them even the doubters and naysayers.
