We had the good fortune of connecting with Alfredo Buenaño and Ricardo Vargas N/A and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alfredo Buenaño and Ricardo Vargas, how do you think about risk?
Risks have always been part of our careers. As creatives, we are always moving and pushing forward towards the next project, the next big idea, the next creative challenge. Starting a new business, especially in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, is a major risk, one of uncertainty by leaving the security of a job and having the responsibility of constructing that dream from the ground up. Your own process, your own vision and the unprecedented possibility taking any path from thereon. The unbeaten path is a risk but it has the possibility of infinite reward ahead, and like every step of our careers it’s the obvious choice. As creatives we are natural entrepreneurs that thrive in curiosity to see what’s behind the next door, exploring the confines of our minds to express each possibility.
What should our readers know about your business?
From the beginning as creatives and business owners, we always took the untraditional route. Not wanting to take agency jobs but rather exploring outside of our comfort zone, where designers would not usually work. Learning from other professions like engineers, journalists, art curators and collaborating in a more multidisciplinary way. This has led us to have a particular skill set that is not traditional for other agencies. We at The Goodyear Agency thrive to learn and reinvent design processes that make our work better, to grow beyond our comfort zone, to innovate and add new value, especially in bringing big agency thought processes to young businesses. As well as constantly finding ways to better help discover their voice and brand, because when they grow, we grow alongside them, enhancing our thought process and revealing new patterns of work. All in constant live feedback that makes us and the people we work with better each time.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A must is the Rubell Museum, an art collection that mesures up to any important museum in the country. After Fiorito for an argentinian Bife de chorizo, and finally drinks at Las Rosas where all the misfits of Miami gather to have a great time. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would like to recognize the support of our creative friends thats help us and guide us in this fun journey, each adding a special contribution of their knowledge and expertise, people like: Angie Ricart, María Elizabeth Hernandez, Daniel Jelinek, Maria Lorena Sandoval, Luis Gonzalez, Sol Ruiz, Mari Duarte, Leopoldo Diaz, Manny Diaz and many others, we appreciate them infinitely.
