We had the good fortune of connecting with Shaina Moriah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shaina, how do you think about risk?
The saying that “Scared money don’t make no money” is my new mantra. You have to take risks , it is scary but you will never know the outcome. As someone who has their PHD in overthinking. I stop over thinking and just go with my first gut instinct. For instance , in the beginning of this pandemic , I had to go to a fashion retreat in LA for a week , it was a costly investment and I started to get scared , I was having a moment lol. My mind was creating different scenarios lol. I silenced the noise and I made the decision to go. I told my partner he said “Speedy G is making the move”. I laughed. That risk inspired me in so many ways , it brought my dream life into reality on how I wanted to start and end my days. I fell in love with LA , I got to connect with other creatives. I did not want to come back to FL lol. Just imagine if I did not go that would have plagued my mind more. Risks are necessary to evolve. The next big risk I need to take is leaving this job that no longer aligns with me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At this current moment , I am working on two businesses. One is an e-commerce brand called Marlee Harlow. MH is a curated collection of ready to wear styles for the bold women that want to unlock the goddess within-without the breaking the bank. What keeps me going is the reviews , every time I try a new style or change up the marketing and see the sales ,that lets me know I am in the right direction. And the icing on the cake is seeing the tagged pics , the reveal of the packaging. And my other business is called Stay Above It and I am in the process of becoming a certified life coach. I want to help people get rid of the self limiting beliefs they have of themselves so that they can unlock their true power, The challenges that I am overcoming is imposter syndrome and showing up confidently . It is scary sometimes going on live or recording a podcast episode. In my head I am thinking “Do people really care and am I making sense at all”?. The biggest lesson learned is running a business is a numbers game , every dollar spent needs to be accounted for, checks and balances. My story : No matter what to stay above it , feel everything but do not let myself stay stuck in the funk and propel.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Where I would take my friend ; First , to grab drinks and eat we would have to head out to Ft. Lauderdale and go to The Rock Bar. The drinks , the food and its by the beach plus the whole scene is fun. The next day , we would have to go Kayaking or deep sea fishing. I never knew how fun fishing was until I did it at my job. Then head over to Benny on the Beaches . On Sunday we go to salt 7 for brunch. On Monday to relax and unwind a spa day at The Breakers.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to my partner , my calculator. He deserves all the credit. For the past 9 years every idea and madness he has been by my side, Every time I wanted to quit he always reminds me of the bigger picture. As I am going over finances , he wants a detailed spreadsheet. I am taking pictures he is behind the lens , If I am looking for inventory he looks as well and drops his gems as he says lol . When I use to organize and promote themed open mics , he would help me create everything. Big shoutout to my calculator.
