We had the good fortune of connecting with Mia Villasante and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mia, what do you attribute your success to?
Loving what I do and creating an environment that attracts authenticity and confidence. I want the girls, the clients and myself to leave everyday feeling fulfilled and proud of what we have accomplished. My goal is create that energy while building brands for others but also for Mi and Colette.
In order to share who the brand is, what they believe in and why they will have an impact on your life, we have to understand the founder and the vision. We work towards building a deep(er) connection with the client, where we get to know each-other well enough that we know their voice. That story will only translate and become relatable through transparency – and it will be rewarded with abundance. What I love the most is watching a project from inception to evolution and aligning ourselves with visionaries who believe in us to share their story, their product, and their image. The relationships I have created and the founders that have put trust into us is what makes me feel accomplished and fuels me to wake up every morning. We are just getting started.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Together we are a creative agency that specializes in how your brand defines itself. Headquartered in Miami, we have the potential to work on but not limited to logos, brand placement, content creation, social media, email marketing and web development. I founded Mi and Colette in 2018 as a result of coming from a family of established entrepreneurs. I began my career when working for them and it was then I discovered my love for marketing, particularly social media. Watching my family become entrepreneurs inspired me to become one myself. I slowly started building a team that could elevate my skills and executes ideas on a daily basis. One year later, our team grew to five, including my sister-in-law, who is a branding specialist and our creative director. I have learned that you have to surround yourself with people who have skills and qualities that you don’t. You can’t be everything, but you can be anything. I am most proud of the culture of Mi and Colette, where we support, love and motivate each other. Through our growth, we have stuck together, and each person has taken on whatever they need to do to get the job done, with enthusiasm. We each bring something unique to the table, from the backend to frontend and together, we create magic.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents, my brothers, my sister-in-law (I couldn’t do it without her) and my team. My parents have supported me from day one and have taught me everything I need to know about running a business. They also have provided me with an amazing workspace and photo studio where we have an environment that gives us creative freedom. Most of all, they have taught me that you can’t do the work and lead the work. As a leader, your job becomes actively coaching and guiding your team, keeping contact with your clients and never burning bridges. You never know who you will need to call tomorrow. The key to success is to find what you’re best at and surround yourself with people who do it better, and that’s what I have done.
