Meet Isadora Badi | Senior Vice President of Marketing, ONE Sotheby’s

We had the good fortune of connecting with Isadora Badi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Isadora, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
I define it as creating a career and a life you are passionate about. That will be different for everyone. I always had to create my own path instead of settling for a role or direction someone else imagined for me. I love working with research and data, as well as art and culture, blending all these references to create a new campaign, a new service or product. It’s inspiring to build something new and scale that up to reach as many people as possible. Throughout my career I had moments when an opportunity came up for a new role, business or promotion that seemed perfect on paper, but didn’t check all the boxes for me, and I passed. It was someone else’s idea of success, not mine. We spend a major part of our lives at work! That is life! And it has to be deeply personal and meaningful.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I always worked with brand strategy as I love connecting brand stories with real people. The industry changed so much! What was advertising then had to evolve to an open conversation. People share their own content and interact with the brands they connect with. It’s more exciting than ever. In different stages in my career, I fell in love with distinct parts of this work. I was initially attracted to marketing because of the creative aspect of it, but as I grew in my career, I became more interested in the research, planning, and strategy side of things. Understanding how to scale up a program and organize a process and a team helped me achieve more than ever. Today I am most energized about organizing a team. Placing the right pros in the right seats and connecting the dots to bring a big idea to life. Leading a team to reshape what marketing means for our company – and for the industry – has been a rewarding journey. One piece of advice: Align yourself with mentors who are not only smart, but happy and excited about their work. Never take advice from people who don’t inspire you!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The first stop has to be Casa Vinyasa in South Miami. It’s a gorgeous studio with incredible instructors that I fell in love with as soon as I moved to Miami. I love Majestic Bakehouse for their authentic Portuguese treats and bike there often for a carb-fest on the weekends. I always had a soft spot for The Bass museum for contemporary art exhibits in Miami Beach. What a setting, what a stunning location. I like enjoying art with my family and the smaller scale of this museum is perfect to keep an 8-year old interested. And to close the day I love Bellini, located in Mr. C in Coconut Grove. I want to eat all their appetizers on repeat, but it’s the beautiful view that reminds me how lucky I am to be in Miami.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am a proud alumni of the program Young Corporate Young Hispanic Corporate Achievers™, held by the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility’s (HACR). I had the pleasure of participating a few years ago and it was life-changing. This helped me refine my own leadership style and learn how to lift others up as part of my journey. It was a privilege to learn from people like Juana Bordas – President of Mestiza Leadership International – on being a leader at work and in my community. What a powerhouse she is! Robert Rodriguez, author of “Latino Talent” is also someone who changed my life and is doing world-changing work helping companies unleash the talent of their LatinX executives. I have been a fan of Mayi de la Vega for a long time. She is a role model to me, and her marketing approach transcends real estate – it’s world-class or nothing. When she invited me to join her team to expand the marketing organization at ONE Sotheby’s International Realty, that was a dream come true. During our first year working together we made ONE a reference in luxury marketing, won awards for our creative, and earned a new level of trust from agents and clients.
