We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Mendes | Carla Goffredo | Mayerlin Barazarte and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Victoria Mendes | Carla Goffredo | Mayerlin Barazarte, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
As a nonprofit organization our legacy would be to keep doing good in people’s life so that they can keep a smile. We push for others to remember all those values learned when providing for anyone in need; not only homeless people but also those that can feel alone or are going through difficult times in their life, such as the elderly people or those who are sick. We want people to remember this organization not only for everything done by giving to those in need but also for all the smiles and hearts touched with some hope and happiness.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Help United is not really a business, it is more of a nonprofit organization looking to provide better opportunities for those in need. In our case the hardest thing would be to get enough donations to provide for everyone out there. Spreading the word about what we do and who we are would be one of the most important things for us because that way we can get more people involved. After our first project we learned that nothing in life comes easy, that whenever you have the opportunity of helping others you should take it because it is not only something that touches their heart but also touches your heart.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We decided to start this organization after encountering a young homeless girl who had experienced countless things that had affected her emotionally and physically. After listening to her story and helping her out, we realized that there are so many people out there that could be going through similar situations if not worse and we wanted to do something to help them smile a little more.
