We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelangelo305 and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelangelo305, do you have a budget?
I consider myself to be the king of resourcefulness. Sometimes if I’m lucky I can put together a small budget for certain projects, but for the most part I diy the heck outta things.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I remember a time when all I wanted was a music video for one of my songs, and the more I thought of it the further from reach it seemed. I was broke but most of all I was lacking the vision of today. Today where I have basically become a multi media artist. I am now a self taught video editor/sound engineer. I create my own set designs and shoot and direct my own videos. I enjoy it very much but don’t get me wrong, I would much rather have true professionals handle all of that while I focus on the music. I’ve learned to do all of this mainly through YouTube tutorials. My biggest challenge was myself and probably feeling like if my music was good enough, everything else will fall into place. This could not be further from the truth. I’ve pretty much taught myself the true value of hard work. I want people to know that as hard as some goals appear to reach, you can attain them. I once thought so much of what I do and have was unattainable.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would probably start with the sand and the beach, possibly a picnic by the water. North beach of course, you know us locals for the most part stay away from south beach haha. I would take someone to our soon to reopen, open mic Words and Wine. Our new location will be at the Anderson. Wherever this open mic goes is my home. I’ve met some of the sweetest and incredibly talented people throughout the years of being involved and hosting it.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shout out to my dear friend El Mike whom recently passed away. He was such a hard working artist that did everything with his own hands. In such a short career he produced more art than many would hope to do in their lives. Constantly evolving, he taught me so much. It is because of him that I began to edit my own videos and truly become a self sufficient artist.
