Meet Wilneshia Burgess | Believe In Your Vision

We had the good fortune of connecting with Wilneshia Burgess and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Wilneshia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting a business was a big deal for me. It was something I wanted for so long, but I just couldn’t grasp the concept on where to begin. I often thought to myself you can’t do this, you don’t have enough time or money to fund a business. I used to write all my ideas in a journal and plan out events. I had journals after journals. It was a nice gesture however, nothing was getting done. When I would share ideas with family members or close friends I didn’t get much feedback. I would pitch ideas but no one really understood my vision. As you can imagine I got a little discouraged and I wanted to give up plenty of times. But the faith that I walk by kept pushing me to talk to people and network. Eventually I knew I would connect with the right person. When you have a vision and you strongly believe in it’s concept, you have to walk with that vision and talk to that vision. Nothing in life comes easy and nothing easy is worth fighting for in my opinion. If others are bothered by what you are doing then you are doing something right. I had to trust myself and believe in my business. I still have a long way to go but I took the necessary steps and got it going. The Kinzie Foundation is the umbrella of many ideas I have in store. Anti-Bullying is one of the key components of my business. With the right attitude and mindset I know my business will prosper.

What should our readers know about your business?
The Kinzie Foundation is a 501c non-profit organization. We are committed to building the family as a whole self-esteem to be a better version of themselves. I am most excited for the Anti-Bullying component within my business. It is something that often gets swept underneath the bridge because no one wants to talk about being bullied or bullying others. My son was bullied in the second grade and it really affected him. As a mother no one wants to hear about their child being bullied. I did my research and realized that there weren’t many resources for anti-bullying. It was at that moment when I realized I wanted to make a difference in my son life and others. Building this business was not easy because I did not know where to start and I had no resources. I was afraid to ask business owners for help because I thought they would have this impression that I’m competing with them. The truth is no two people are alike. We my share the same ideas but the way we execute the vision will be different. The biggest challenge was fighting myself. Telling myself that I was good enough to have a business and be successful like my peers. I had to take a step out on faith and believe in myself. If I didn’t believe in this business no one would have taken me serious.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My husband is a private chef so I would have him make breakfast for us every morning because I love breakfast. I would plan a girls spa day with Sensational Faces, then we would go have lunch or dinner on the beach and let my husband cater the food.
