We had the good fortune of connecting with Holly Doughty and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Holly, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I love taking risk in my photography and images. You learn so much about lighting and photography angels by taking risk. Every photo shoot I try to do at least one thing new and creative I have never done before. I love seeing other photographers work, it inspires me to do more with my business and artwork.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Alot of photographers are very set on shooting a certain way or marketing to certain people and since the beginning of my business I have always shot with all groups of people and companies of all sizes. I love the diversity in photographing different products, people, and companies, my job never gets boring because I am always shooting something new and creative. I photograph every person, every budget, and every style.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I live in Atlanta, GA so there is always something going on in atlanta. There is a concert, events, ball games, etc.. all the time in my hometown. I love the Georgia Aquarium so that would be the first stop then we I love home cooked meals so I would definitely take them to my favorite spot south of Atlanta called Buckners. They serve all the food on a lazy susan table. A lazy susan is a table that turns in a circle and its all you can eat. Its all fried chicken, mash potatoes, green beans, cream corn, slaw, cornbread, and the best of all peach cobbler.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I was raised in a self employment family. My grandparents, my parents and now myself are all self employed with successful businesses. I always knew I wanted to own my own business like my family has done. Running your own business and being successful is always a challenge but I was willing to take on the challenge. My grandparents and parents businesses are ran through word of mouth and being in business for a long time at the same location with no social media presence but when I opened up my business its all social media based so it was bit of a challenge to get my following and support on social media. But now being open for 10 years, I have had my studio for 10 years at the same location and my clients are from word of mouth and from social media. Social media plays a big role into my business. I love all my support from local clients and social media clients.
