We had the good fortune of connecting with Zuzel Barrera and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zuzel, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business was never really in the books for me, or so I thought. During all my years I was happy being an employee until I Worked for a company called Passports and Visas. I truly loved working there, I was in this company for 7 years and things suddenly went downhill. I blinked and the company was gone. At this point I did what any normal human does. Panic, and look for another job. My mom was the light at the end of the tunnel. She expressed how I should not loose such connections, that the hardest thing was the network of a business and I already had this. Did I listen? of course not! I found a job, and worked there and kept insisting to my mother , that in january I would start. Well…. lets just say the universe kept showing me NEON signs anddd I just kept ignoring it… What was the final AHA moment you ask… It was 12-31-2018. That day after working till mid day, I receive a letter from the receptionist. Letter said they did the budget for the new year and could not afform my salary. Mad, sad, angry every emotion went thorugh my veins, I spent two days mopping around. on 1-3-2019 , i opened up my LLC. I told myself nothing in this life was guaranteed, and the universe proved it to me not once, but twice. It was time for me to make decisions on my own. Take charge of my life, and we did just that.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My professional life was very much of an employeed business woman. While going to college I had the oppotunity of working at a plethora of positions. I looked at jobs like a skill set I wanted to perfect, learning daily was my passion. Once I found the passport world, I immediately loved it. While working there I went through every position, call center, sales, manager, courier. You name it I did it. I was able to get a full feel for the industry. I loved helping people, and quickly learned travel is not just leisure. This is when EZ Passports was born, I realized I was made to help people. I saw how the govenrment treated clients. They could careless if they missed a trip, but I cared. I wanted to make the passport and visa experience easy and painless. I go above and beyond for my clients, I complete their apps set up any appointments and meet them at the location. I pick up renewals at their home or office, I have text and call available for those that hate talking on the phone. We here at EZ Passports listen to what works for our customer and execute.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A week of Fun! Right down my alley. Well here in Miami there are soo many amazing places. I would start by staying and the standard or goodtime hotel. During the day we would do different activities , could be the hop on hop off bus, we could do a spa day, check out Frost Museum, the Van Ghou show or even do their yoga ! Walk through wynwood and take pictures. Food ! we will be eating a lot because if there is one thing Miami is good at is food! We would most definitely check at Joia, Mila, Straberry moon for a good DJ or even a nice meal. drunken Dragon, and of course some good old tacos from Coyo taco. At night we would do Astria or Sugar for a beautiful view of the city and end the week with a nice beach day to relax and soak in our delicious sun

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I think every single human that was in my path for the last 3 years deserves recognition. First and foremost my mother, and my two best friends. I don’t count on many people but these three humans have truly always wanted what is best for me. Pushed me when I am getting too comfortable and genuinely where happy for all of my milestones and accomplishment. I have to thank every single one of my clients because without their referrals I would not be where I am today. My partner for supporting me always, being ok with long work hours, always on the phone creating content or replying to customers, for believing in me when I don’t, and always always being the shoulder I can lean on, but I also want to thank myself. I want to thank myself for being scared and still trying, not knowing how I would afford food or my cellphone and still pushing. Living the second year of my launch while a pandemic happened and finding alternatives to make it work. Books! I thank books every day, specially Ask and it is given by Abraham Hicks.. This woman really allowed me to tune in with my power and how to manifest what I want, when I want. We have the power to do anything we can imagine, I think its beautiful I had the oppotunity to find that thing .
