We had the good fortune of connecting with Tara McKoy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tara, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
The habits that have helped me succeed are creating a daily routine to ensure the daily tasks are being met in a timely manner and waking up early to get enough time throughout the day to get things done.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is family owned that began with my parents who are now retired and left it for my brother and I to operate. We are so family oriented that it was inevitable for our work environment to be any differently with our staff and customers. The personal touch when working with customers is what gives us that competitive edge, along with being able to have personal control on product quality. With the ever changing times we currently face it is not easy to operate, but this where everyone in the company has to come together and push through as a team to make it all work.
Constant communication and transparency with staff is what we have learned is most beneficial in overcoming the challenges.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A great weekend spot in Kingston, is to go to one of the Cays. There are several little cays off the coast of Kingston that you have to take a boat out to reach where you can hang out and enjoy the boat, scenery and beach all day. Good eating would be to check out Hellshire for some fresh fish cooked either fried, steamed, brown stew served with festival and/or bammy and if lobster is in season the grilled lobster is great too. Along with that eating a Jamaican patty and some jerk chicken is a must.
Taking a drive up to Blue Mountain, stopping for coffee and taking in nature at Hollywell is also a great local experience.

My Shoutout goes to my family that gives me endless support and motivation needed to get through any and all of the challenges I face.
