We had the good fortune of connecting with Tatiana Restrepo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tatiana, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Where should I start? Balance has always been one of my main life pillars. Since I was 15 I keep telling myself I want a balanced life, between work and personal life, friends, and family, pancakes, and chia pudding. When I started my first business, at 20 years old, the whole brand concept was: LIVE IN BALANCE. Our snack company’s purpose was that people eat in a more balanced, but non-guilty way. What I didn’t realize was that while I work harder and my business was thriving, my balance was on the edge. I didn’t have time to go to the gym, to be with my friends, to talk about anything else that wasn’t about work. I wasn’t happy, even though I had a successful business. I sold that business at 28 and started to re-think balance. Is it harder to achieve balance than ask for it? What was balance for me? I realized that balance is every day’s choice, is a decision you make each day when you wake up. When you decide to stop work at 6 and spend time with your husband, when you say “I had had enough party, I want to stay home” when you want to have a “Me Time”, and on other occasions just need to work harder. Balance for me is staying true for what you want and need at the moment, without taking so much into consideration what society will think. STAY TRUE.
What should our readers know about your business?
CREA. is my marketing agency. People sometimes ask: “another marketing agency”? But, let me tell you, those who work with us understands our difference. We catalog marketing in three pillars and transform each of them to boost a brand. If a brand is missing one of these pillars, like a house, it might not stand still for a long time:
*Brand: do you connect with people? Does your brand tell a story? Is it unique? What does it stand for? When I see the brand will I imagine what you want? We don’t do logos, we create purpose.
*Digital World: This world is more than Instagram or Paid Ads, it is a sales funnel, that starts with building a community, creating empathy, and then taking these customers through a journey that will end in a shopping cart. It s a world of creativity, but data, analysis, but stepping on customer shoes.
*Strategy with execution: these two worlds should never be thought of as two separate galaxies. They are complementary. In CREA. we look into the entire customer journey, build up strategies and execute these strategies in order to improve all digital marketing assets. We don’t believe in doing it because is trendy, but because it is the best strategy.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t know if you know MiMo, let me walk you through! MiMo is the Miami Modern area, located in Biscayne from 50th to 80th street. It hasn’t been a very known area, but in the last years you can see a lot of development . A place where you can find a lot of local restaurants, authentic places and stores.
Don’t miss:
Lo de Lea: the best Argentinean steak in a small authentic restaurant
Miami Iron Side: a sustainable super block community where you can walk, find restaurants, and shops.
Cafe Kush: best burger around
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
People think I always do business alone because I never have had business partners. But what those don’t know is that in order to grow you can never do it alone. I will want to shout out to my family for always believing in me, and all the people who teach me something to build up CREA.
